Most comfortable pack ever!
By Casey D. Aytes on Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2019
Absolutely impressed by the fit and function of this pack. I recently completed a 12mi Hike with 5L of water and all of my gear (35lbs+) and the Osprey Atmos 65AG made it comfortable. The hip and shoulder straps are so robust that they take all of the load off the shoulders. The AG system keeps the pack off the back and allows your back to breathe. Pockets and gear ties are convenient and plentiful. Hip pockets are large and perfectly placed unless you have a larger waist. The lower side pockets stretch and are perfect for water bottles, rain jacket or any ready access item. This pack has too many features but the rain cover is sold separately. The lifetime warranty that Osprey offers is a game changer for this already amazing product.

Lite on volume of space - I really had to stuff things in there.

For the money I was expecting to be able to fit more in there. When you put a full water bag in the main compartment it reduces the amount of volume for other things. The bed roll straps are a bit short and if it rains the waterproof cover sold separately will not cover your bed roll. I wound up having to carry my bedroll by hand in the rain as the straps are hidden by the cover. I guess it's ok if the bedroll get's soaked (sarcasm). Furthermore with the rain cover on it is difficult to get the pack on as you need to thread your arms through the straps but not get hung up in the waterproof cover. If you are by yourself this can be a bit of a challenge. It can also be difficult to get the side strap compartments to unfold with the rain cover on. I wound up just foregoing using the waist belt when it was raining. I personally would recommend a poncho that will cover the whole setup if you expect to encounter rain. You'll be more comfortable and all your stuff will remain dry. The plus side is that this was a very comfortable pack to wear when dry and my shoulders never became too sore over the course of the day. It was easy to control comfort by alternately tightening and loosening the waist belt so that the hips take more or less of the load.
