This made MTG multiplayer way more fun!
By Shinyaku on Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2020
I do enjoy magic Multiplayer, but it sometimes grinds along, especially in the first few rounds while everyone is building their field. This little kit changes a standard MTG multiplayer into a more board game like experience. The play of the decks is the same, but it is spiced up with exploration with game changing tiles that help to spice up play and give more options to those with a little mana left over to spend. IT also makes some harder choices as you decide between playing that card you have been holding onto and exploring the next tile hoping for a gain. Replay value is high since it comes with more tiles than you use in a single play through, so you can change it up to keep it fresh. No two game will ever play the same. We also play tested it with some of our other prebuild decks. The game seems to balance fairly well even when using decks outside the set as long as the power levels are even. We even played a five player game, just made the board a little bigger, and it worked out great. I highly recommend this set. Much like the plain cards and other MTG sets that add more to the traditional game of magic, this product does a great job of changing up the traditional formula. As a bonus, the decks are a blast and contain some decent cards from the ixilan block, as well as some original cards unique to the set.

NOT FOR MAGIC BEGINNERS / INCOMPLETE
By jond on Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2018
Explorers of Ixalan instructions assumes you know how to play Magic the Gathering (the instructions do not teach the game of Magic the Gathering which is required to play this game). The fact that you need to know how to play MTG should be in big bold letters on the front of the box. Fortunately, I bought this knowing that you needed to know how to play MTG. I simply just wanted some MTG game with basic decks to play against my kids without having to shell out a ton of money. At retail (65.00), Explorers of Ixalan would be a ripoff (it doesn't even come with the 20 sided dice necessary for MTG). But at 40.00, its a fits my needs of having an option to play Magic around the house. Whomever designed this game, particularly the instructions, ought not to have a job as a writer. The instructions are an embarrassment.
