Ok, so let me start off by saying that I've been a backyard BBQer, griller, and smoker for many years. I'm always trying out new tools, gadgets, life simplifiers, etc. A few years ago, I needed a Bluetooth thermometer for when we were at our vacation condo. Our condo is on the 2nd floor and maybe 75 feet from where the grills are (down on the ground level). Close enough that Bluetooth is within range and that I can monitor temperatures without having to run up and down the stairs all the time. Often times I'm smoking or grilling multiple things, so having support for multiple probes is important. The Solis can handle up to 8 at a time. So, a few years ago, I purchased this and loved it. Unlike many others I've tried, the iPhone software is simple to operate. I'm a software programmer by trade so tech doesn't usually get the better of me, but there are times that I've used some other manufacturers' software and wondered how they even released it in the state it was in (poor!). Not true with the Solis app. Also, the device itself is stupid simple to pair with the app. Originally, I purchased the Solis with the 8 probes. While I typically only use 1 to 2 at a time, it's nice having others available if/when needed. Each probe has it's own colored handle and the app allows you to choose the color of the probe plugged into each port, so it's simple to see which meat is at which temp. You don't need to think about it. Great UI choice! Setting desired temps or cook times is easy, as is adding your own meats and specs to the app. For instance, Brisket is not one of the choices provided by default, but it was simple to add it, tell it to start giving me an alarm at around 198 internal temperature and assign that to my probe. It saves too, so the next time I have a brisket on, I plug in my probe, select Brisket from my list, and boom... done. Sadly, 1 month ago I dropped the Solis. I was able to get a couple of more cooks out of it but the display was wonky and the device started exhibiting behaviors like not shutting off, or taking forever to power up and stay powered. No big deal. I got my use out of it (years) and it was my own fault. After the last cook I did with it, I promptly went back to my Amazon orders, found the device, and clicked Buy It Again. This time I got the one that came with two probes since it's the same device and I already have all of my other probes, which work perfectly well with it. It arrived the other day. Same great unit, two new probes to go with my other 8, and this time came in a nice little zippered case, as opposed to the cardboard box of the old unit (which I've kept for storing the thermometer and probes all this time, rather than shove them into a BBQ tools drawer). I took it out for a test spin immediately. Within the app I clicked Forget Device for my old one, told it to search for the new one, turned the new one on to Pairing Mode and it connected immediately. All of my settings were still there (from the app, not stored with the old device, so that was a bonus!), then I put a Tri-Tip* on the grill. I couldn't be happier with it, and I HIGHLY recommend this unit for a good, quality, reasonably-priced unit. You won't be dissapointed! * Bonus content for all of us guys that see someone reference cooking meat and immediately scream "WHAT DID YOU COOK AND HOW DID YOU COOK IT AND HOW DID IT COME OUT!?!?!?!?": I did this with a reverse sear method. I lightly seasoned the Tri-tip (about 2.5 lbs) with Killer Hogs A.P. (basically salt, pepper, garlic), then put a layer of Killer Hogs Steak Rub on top of that for added flavor and texture. I let that sit for about an hour or so. I then brought the grill (sadly a gas grill was all I had access to, but it's all good) up to about 250 degrees by lighting the burners on the right side only. I put the meat on the left side to cook via indirect heat. When the meat got to 110 degrees, I pulled it off, put my GrillGrates (BUY THOSE! They're the single best grilling accessory you can get) on, and cranked the heat til the grill hit 550 to 600. I then put the Tri-tip back on for about a minute and a half per side, until the meat hit 125. At 125 I pulled the meat off, wrapped it in butcher paper, and let it stand for about 15 minutes. It was a perfect medium-rare to medium, tender, juicy, and all around perfect cook!

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!
By Ricky T on Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2018
UPDATE 7/10/2018: Tenergy is now unresponsive. They have refused to buy this defective product back only because I am past the 30 day return period. They will only replace probes under warranty after doing an ice bath test. Problem is, the ice bath test caused me to find one of the probes I thought was good, to be bad. I now have one good probe left, the rest are either completely inoperative (one shows temperatures of over 500 degrees) or off by 20 degrees. Some are only off once they are put in the oven/grill/smoker and have heat applied to them, but pass the ice bath test. The fact that Tenergy won't stand by their product, is telling. UPDATE 7/6/2018: Tenergy is communicating with me. They are willing to replace any and all failed probes if I send them a picture of an ice-bath test, but they are not willing to take the device back and give me a refund (it's been 90 days). Just FYI, these probes are used while smoking meats. Rarely are they exposed to temperatures above 300 degrees, but they are exposed to those temperatures for up to 18 hours at a time. UPDATE 7/2/2018: 2 more probes failed during an overnight cook in the smoker at 225 degrees. These probes are absolutely terrible. Tenergy has been unresponsive. UPDATE May 2018: Can't recommend this monitor 2 out of 6 of the probes have failed, and a 3rd is on its way out. After being in a smoker at 225 degrees for 16 hours, two died and now report temps much higher than actual. Now every time I cook I have to check every probe against another probe I know to be good, as well as against themselves. If two already failed, I expect the rest to fail before the end of summer. You'll notice that in the last paragraph of my original review I said, "WHEN, not if, one of the probes fails". Boy, was I spot on. I just didn't think it would happen so soon. Secondarily, there are a few quirks with the app. Most notably that if you set the temp at 203, it won't go off until the meat actually hits 204. That makes me crazy. Certainly it should wait until 203 is a solid temperature, but it shouldn't wait until 204. If I could return this, I would. I'm going to be seeking out a higher quality device for smoking meats. ORIGINAL REVIEW Man, this thing is great. I just smoked a brisket over the weekend, and used two of the probes in the single brisket. I don't trust probes anymore, so it's nice to be able to do have up to 6. The hardware interface is simple. Almost too simple. The app works really well, but is also almost too simplified. One thing I have to say about this, is connecting, disconnecting, and connecting to another device, works like a charm! So much better than Weber's iGrill junk. My wife and I share the burden when smoking meats, so we often switch off. All you have to do is close the app on one device, and you can open it on another. What doesn't transfer is the preset info. If I have it set to one preset, and my wife connects to it, the preset is lost on the device. But once she sets up a preset and then disconnects, it still stays on the device for monitoring. I love that it uses AA batteries. I had it on for over 20 hours, and the battery meter didn't move. Down sides: App lacks a few features. In order to set a specific temperature, you MUST create a preset. There is no way around it. That's annoying. The presets are well done though. I just can't figure out how to delete one. The timers are super-weird. You start a timer on a specific probe, and on the temperature screen it shows the number of minutes you originally set the timer for, not what the current time is. If you tap the timer icon, it goes to a point where you can edit the timer, and therefore see the time left on the timer, but it's not active, so to refresh you must go back and then into the timer edit again. The temperature probe screen should show the time left on the timer(s). I hate that it uses non-standard 3.5mm TRS plugs for the temperature probes, meaning I can't use other probes with the 2.5mm TS plugs I've used for years, unless I come up with my own adapter. It also means that WHEN, not if, one of the probes fails, I have to buy their probes, and can't choose from a higher quality item.
