Great for the water
By Ethan on Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2025
These are the style that are glass lenses not plastic (some other ones are plastic lenses.) The glass style is much easier to clean and not scratch, I use the green lenses to see in green/brown water and they have really nice clarity. I have a few pairs of Costas and they will take a beating and keep going, the glass lenses are much more durable than the plastic lenses though. I have to say they have great polarization to see through the reflection of the light on the water, and work incredibly well.

It’s a sad day for Costa fans
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2024
I have owned 10 pair of costas since I was a teenager and I’m in my 40s lost the pair I was using to the lake had to purchase this as a replacement exactly what I had before except my other ones were close to 10 years old I got them and everything seemed OK until I hit bright light And clearly something was wrong. I used them for a couple weeks thinking maybe it was me but the more I use them the more I realize the quality of the lens is nothing what it used to be. In bright light, everything is hazy not nearly as dark as they used to be, and very very little to no contrast which is what I loved about the pair I had before it had great contrast everything looked like it was in 3-D. Obviously it is normally, but it was that good before it just felt different when you looked through them that’s not the case anymore , I noticed the most when I could see all of my electronics with my sunglasses on and I could never see them before. It was always just black so I knew something was wrong. Costa once was the best sunglasses manufacturer and with a little research, I found out they are no longer , independent manufacture they were purchased by the same company that owns Oakley and Ray and others. Their operations in Florida are minimal and they’re now being manufactured in California. Unfortunately, the quality of lenses went with the sale and move. Sad sad sad but after many many years of being a Costa fanboy , I am no longer and I’m moving onto a different manufacture. Just so everybody knows the people in Florida who used to run Costa opened a new sunglasses company. I won’t say the name but just do a little research. It’s now the only independent premium sunglass manufacturer out there. Well that’s where I’m going. If you like Costa go for it, but they’re current quality is no better than any other midgrade sunglasses out there now so do a little research. Find the new company of Costa people and give them a try.

Replacing a 3 year old pair of Oakley Holbrook XL. I work outdoors and good sunglasses are a must for my job. Polarized are best. I ordered the following through Amazon Wardrobe: 2 pairs of Oakley Holbrook XL, one with Grey lenses one with blue, 2 pairs of Costa Rinconcito with the 580p lenses Grey and blue and a single pair of Costa Rincons with the 580g lenses in blue. All polarized. First the Rinconcito; despite its measurements they were too small. So both of them were no go's. Right out of the box. The Oakleys were very nice. The Holbrook xl is a great pair of sunglasses and the lenses were excellent as expected. I liked the red/green color enhancement of the blue lenses but I didn't like the 12% light transmission, too bright for me. The Grey were great at 11% light transmission but I really liked additional color I was able to pickup under water with the blue lenses. I went back and forth trying to choose between the 2 eventually choosing the blue. Then I tried the Rincon with the blue 580g lenses. Awesome fit, slightly larger than the Holbrook XL but comfortable and surprisingly light considering the glass lenses. The glasses fit and looked awesome. Then I noticed that the red/green colors were popping but I still felt comfortably shaded. The blue 580g lenses were 10% light transmission. Even darker than the Grey Oakleys. You may think 1% isn't a big deal but it's definitely noticeable. The blue Costas blocking an additional 2% of visable light over the Oakleys is a huge difference. I knew when I put them on they were the right pair and once I got to know them a little better it was confirmed. If you've got a wide face you owe it to yourself to try the Costa Rincons.

These glasses are great. Have used them on beach vacations, snowy conditions and driving. No complaints.
