aesthetic stand for an aesthetic speaker...with one concern
By eric on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2017
The Sanus speaker stand for sonos play 5 generation 2 speakers are a very solid choice. With its main competition being the much more expensive Flexson and Vogel speaker stands. Comparing the three, I would say the Sanus with its aluminum stand is a more aesthetic looking stand than the flexson and probably on par with the Vogel stand. The white stand matches very well with my white speaker. Also as a plus the speakers can be mounted both horizontally and vertically. The one downside of the stand though is the stability of the speaker on the metal plate. The metal plate that the speaker sits on does not have a "locked in" feel and relies on a very shallow socket that you place your speaker on (photo attached). From what I have read, when sonos made the generation 2 speakers, they removed a screw hole from the bottom of the speaker that would allow a more stable mount. From the instruction manual, Sanus gives the option of using a 3M sticky strip (not included) which can add stability to the mount, and I would likely recommend doing this. Regardless of the stability of the speaker on the base, I would certainly recommend placing the stand somewhere away from where accidents can occur, especially if one has children or pets at home. I don't think it would be too hard to knock the stand down (and goodbye speaker) if someone bumped into it, even if the speakers were taped to the stand.

Speaker is not attached, stand is unstable
By Whereupon on Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2019
Nice looking, terrible user design. The speaker doesn't attach to the stand, so easily knocked off. Looking for a better-designed stand. Updated review. lowered it to one star from two: the base of the stand is smaller than a Sono Play 5 speaker, and the Play 5 is very heavy, so you have a top-heavy setup to begin with. To add to that, the vertical portion attaches to the base with two screws, and it difficult to impossible to get the screws tight enough that the vertical doesn't wobble with the weight of the Play 5 on top. Very sad that Sanus is one of the few folks that design stands for Sonos speakers.
