Worth Every Penny If You're Working On Hip/Low Back Mobility
By swelu on Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2018
Yes this is expensive. Yes it is noisy. For just a general massage or muscle release it was excellent but I was hesitant to recommend it to friends because of the price. However, I just realized a way to use it that makes it worth every penny for me and others that are in yoga, cross-fit or gymnastics that are working on forward folds like pancake and pike and being able to put your hands flat on the floor in standing forward fold. Simply get to your deepest fold like you normally would, then notice where you're tight and put the TheraGun on that area until the muscle releases. Then continue to the next spot. The ergonomics of this thing are great to hold in one hand and provide pressure to various muscles even when upside-down like a forward fold. After 10 minutes I went from having a pancake with a rounded back to flat back with chest and belly on the floor! And it never hurt, the vibration stops the pain signal as it loosens the muscle safely.

Loudness outweighs any benefits!
By Alex on Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2018
I have experience using both the original model and the newer G2. I was hoping that some of the problems of the original would be addressed in the next generation, especially the loudness of the device. Unfortunately, the deafening sound is still there. Unlike other companies that are now producing vibration massage tools (like Hypervolt), the G2 very much feels as though impact screw guns were purchased at Home Depot and rebranded as TheraGun. This is of course how these devices started, and I’m not seeing the innovation out of this company as I am seeing from others. Let’s talk about some of the positives of the G2PRO: adjustable head angle (helpful but the ergonomics and size of the device really only support the normal 90 degree position), different device treatment heads (they seem well-made and snap into place with a ball/bearing), comes with two batteries and charge quickly, comes with a carrying case. The main downside of this device really is the level of sound it creates. If you are using this on a sideline or open area then maybe this won’t matter to you. But inside a gym or house? Forget about it. It is literally deafening and has given my athletes headaches based on the noise it creates alone. This eliminates any possible benefit this device can provide to you or your clients.

Expensive but well worth it!

Great product. I bought the G2 Pro in anticipation of a tough cycling event and for use throughout the summer for cycling post-workout. It works wonders on sore muscles, truly great results. After a couple tough rides, feeling my hamstrings and calves tighten up when walking around the house, I work the affected muscles with the G2 Pro and literally all tightness disappears. Some people have advised to try it out pre-workout which I haven't tried just yet but plan on trying that out this week. I've looked at getting this for a few months now but was concerned with spending this much money on a massager - I can honestly say that I'm completely satisfied and happy with the purchase. My legs feel better than when I've visited a massage therapist (and that's with only 5 minutes use on only what's tight/sore). LOVE IT.

Still not sure how I feel about the TheraGun to be honest

I received my TheraGun about a week ago and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I've used it on muscles that I have issues with (injuries and spasms in my traps and hip flexors mainly). The TheraGun comes in a very nice package but what bothers me is that it does not come with any instructions or guides on various muscle groups and how to use it most effectively - what are the different heads/ampbits for? In fact, the only guides are a couple of brief promotional videos on their YouTube channel. So even after using it, I'm still skeptical that it's as effective as they claim it is. I'm yet to see any scientific evidence from the makers of TheraGun that 'vibration therapy' works (and how it works). Vibrations feels nice but is it doing anything? How often am I supposed to use it? Once a day? As required? Rest periods? How do I combine this with physio work and exercise? So many questions - zero answers provided. The other thing is: I'm a little concerned about its effects on internal organs. This thing vibrates your entire body - it's incredibly strong for such a small device. I worry about having it near my kidneys, heart and even potential spinal or brain injury by using near the neck. Again, I'd like to see a confirmation from the makers of TheraGun that this device is safe to use. Makers of the device, if you're reading this, please spend less time posting silly videos of famous people using the TheraGun (who cares to see that?) and more time making videos that are instructional and educational. Post guarantees that this device is proven to be 100% safe on internal organs. Also for future versions, please reduce the sound - it's so loud that I have to go out to my garage to use the thing.
This is a great tool

This Theragun is a great step forward for soft tissue care. I'm well built with muscle and it still works to release tissue. Its a snazzy design with a very nice organized case. It is way too loud and only one speed setting but the results are so good that doesn't detract form it being a great tool. I've only had it for a few days and expect for the price that it should last at least a few years or more considering I only use it on myself. I'm thankful the company made an effective tool.
Great massager but very noisy

I own the theragun and the hypervolt. They’re both great massagers. I probably prefer the hypervolt because it’s much quieter, better battery, and close to 1/2 the price. The theragun is very powerful, and massages a bit deeper than the hypervolt, although the hypervolt has 3 speeds and can massage at a higher speed than the theragun. I’m hopeful in the next version, the theragun is made quieter. TimTam is making a new version that they claim will be much quieter. The theragun is essentially a drill with massage heads. Very powerful and effective, but I’m limited as to where I can use it because of the noise. In fact, I usually put on Bose noise cancelling headphones when I use it do to the excessive noise, particularly when massaging my upper body.
Ridiculously loud, and much more expensive than competition

It is powerful, and definitely helps with trigger point release and recovery. Unfortunately, though, it's just way too loud, so I had to return it. First of all, it was so loud that I was worried that I would suffer hearing loss when I used the Theragun near my chest/traps area. And secondly, for the same reason, I could only really use it when I was home alone. It sounds like a drill... so it was really annoying for my family to hear every night for 10-15 minutes... And forget about using it in the morning when people are sleeping! I switched over to Hyperice which provides a similar tool, for almost half the price, and MUCH more quiet!
Injured Pro Skier with chronic thigh tension and trigger point knotting.

This device alone provides something I did not know existed, it feels somewhat surreal, and is absolutely effective at breaking up trigger points, scar tissue, and engaging and relaxing the muscle, which really seems to do a great job and restore/improve function and biomechanics. Your muscles also experience great blood flow and recirculation of this tissue that has just been livened up. If you have a really sore muscle/area and especially if you've had it for quite some time, I feel like the Theragun G2PRO really brings life back into those muscles. I'd pay more, and give it 6 stars if I could...
Theraputic Muscle release and great for self massage on your own back.

Speaking as a Licensed massage therapist having used this for a few months on various clients I will say this has many short commings like one speed and the fact it is very noisy and the batteries wont stay in the gun after you continue use it because the plastic clips break which no one addresses when reviewing this like on you tube. Costumer service is very hard to get ahold of when trying address issues and a new battery cost 50 USD. It does help alot in releasing bone hard locked down muscles that is super tender to the touch. You can also give yourself a massage on your back which is impossible to do by just your hands if not using a device like this. I started with this device and gave it high praise for that. I have moved on to the Hypervolt by Hyperice which addresses every issue this device has and fixes it and cost half the price but has the draw back of they dont sell extra batteries for it like they do with this device. The main advantage you get with this device though is thier lifetime warantee which means in my mind unless i am wrong when the gun breaks they replace it. You do have to register on thier website for the warantee to be active.
Pain Pain..... Go Away

My husband orders all sorts of stuff to deal with pain and I rolled my eyes at this purchase since $600+ was a lot of cash. Pros- he says it takes his pain away and the cost beats going to the doctors every 2 weeks for therapy It does come in a nice case and is a sturdy product Cons- the noise this device makes! You need ear plugs and an understanding family as this sounds like a jackhammer. Overall if you have the money to purchase and have muscle aches/pain my husband highly recommends it. Just be sure to order some good ear plugs!
