Cool, fun, collectable stormtrooper
By yael torbati on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2017
Unboxing the robot was pretty awesome. You can tell they put a lot of time into the design of the packaging by how heavy it is. Inside the cover sleeve, the box is pitch black. An emblem of the First Order is on the front and upon opening, you are greeted with your own mini-stormtrooper robot. Taking it out of the box and placing it on the table, the robot stands about as tall as a paper towel roll, I’m pretty sure that is an official scientific unit of measurement. The robot has exaggerated features, like an oversized F-11D blaster rifle, an oversized helmet and big ol’ feet. It’s pretty cute, for a stormtrooper. I didn’t need the instructions to download the companion app to my iPhone and the set-up was intuitive and painless; I did it when I was half-asleep. After my stormtrooper barked out its serial number, I entered the code and was able to connect and control the robot from my iPhone. So far, I have only explored a few of the functionalities. To be honest, I’m not really a gamer and I am more interested in the robot as a collector of Star Wars stuff. With that said, I’m not the most experienced person to review the missions and the quality of game play versus other apps. I thought it was fun to walk the robot around the room and took the greatest pleasure with running it into my wifes’ feet over and over! In the missions, the AR is pretty cool. It’s kinda crazy to even think about the fact that, on my iPhone, I’m looking at a live AR simulation that is being seen by a robot that is walking around the room. And that was another cool thing about the robot: you can control the robot from another room and the there is zero latency between the camera and the phone operation. The robot does take smaller steps than I assumed it would, but it kinda makes sense so that it doesn’t end up walking into a wall during gameplay. It can be pretty fun to walk into a wall over and over, though. Especially if you have young kids!

Released Too Soon and Not Tested
By KindleFanatic on Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2018
I bought this for my 8-year old grandson for Christmas. We set it up and it worked for about an hour and stopped. Then we recharged it and tried to operate it again. It refused to connect to the WiFi, and the setup information had disappeared. We tried the setup again, but the light on the unit kept going to red when the power cord was removed. When the cord was connected, the light on the unit was green. When we shut off the unit, the power light remained on. The storm trooper would not engage again. This is the most disappointing thing I have ever bought and my grandson is very sad. He was so excited when he opened it and then when it wouldn't work, he was so frustrated, as were the rest of the family. We aren't exactly computer illiterate either. This robot was deployed way before it should have been, probably to make it available for Christmas. We even bought it when it first came out, knowing it would be out of stock if we didn't, which it was shortly afterwards. We should have been so lucky! The company needs to test their products before shipping them next time so they don't get the host of bad reviews this robot has generated. There were no reviews when we bought it, but next time, we are going to wait to see whether the reviews are good or not before we buy it again. This thing cost over $150 and was the biggest Christmas scam out there. Don't waste your money.
