The rod is not sturdy.

I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A FLY ROD BREAK. My father introduced me to fly fishing when I was an early teenager. Even though I saw reviews on this rod talking about rod breaks, I assumed they were catching really big fish. In all my years of fly fishing in Kentucky for bluegill, crappie, and bass, I’d never had a rod break. Today, I caught a nice size bluegill (irrelevant) and then in throwing my line back into the water my lure got hung in a bush. It didn’t come loose easily so I had to pull hard to get it loose. I wasn’t too surprised when the leader broke in trying to get my popper loose, but I was quite surprised when the rod broke. Just do the math. You pay $80 for a rod that lasts less than two months. I don’t know how much my dad paid for those back in the day, but I’m sure it wasn’t a lot because we were not wealthy.
