Best overall headphones, extremely satisfied customer (After 2 years of use)
By ss2985 on Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2018
Update after 2 years ------ Even after two years, these headphones are the best in the market even today. No further replacements to ear cups since the replacement. Still as comfortable as ever. I use these headphones for about 8 hours a day due to daily conference calls and media consumption. That means that these have gone through thousands of hours of use over the last two years. I've added photos after 2 years of use as reference but these do not take any damage. The sound is still excellent as ever and the mic is just fantastic. I know people that use airpods, airpod pros, Jabra 85H, Plantronics Voyager 5200, etc., but these are the BEST sounding headphones for the people on the other side of the call and yourself. With kids at home, these help cancel out noise for you if they are being loud and for the users on the other side. I find this is very important in this day and age. The headphones will NOT cancel out noise from your kids if they are screaming right next to you or in front of you. No headphones will do that. However, if they are screaming in the room next door or if they are relatively far away from you and you are not facing them, these will cancel them out. This also has a convenient MUTE button on the headphones so you can quickly toggle between mute and off mute. Another great feature these headphones have is the multi-device feature. I have these connected to my PC and phone so I can join by phone (excellent sound quality but less superior to directly connecting to the PC) if I want to walk around or I can connect to the PC if that is more convenient. I would say these are FAR better than the Jabra 85H and probably slightly inferior but more practical than the Bose 700s. In don't know if that can be said about build quality though since Bose 700s has not proven to withstand thousands of hours of use over 2 years at least for me. Update after 1 year ------- These headphones are still one of the best in my opinion. I replaced the ear cups as one of them ripped (as I started using these while working out) but replacing them was easy and it cost about $25 on amazon. Recently, Bose 700s came out for $400 with better overall voice quality over mics (apparently) but these headphones are perfect for conference calls. If you want to sing into these mics, sure, maybe the BOSE are better. If you want to use these for phone calls and also use them for listening to music or videos, these are perfect, especially if you want to save a couple of hundred dollars over the BOSE 700s. I have been using these headphones for about 6 months now everyday for about 8 hours a day, A LOT for phone calls and also for listening to music. These are the best headphones I have ever owned. Pros: - The sound quality is superb. They sound great for listening to music and any type of media consumption. - The call quality on these are absolutely the best. I've used many headsets for phone calls as I am on the phone all day. These are great for being able to hear people on the other side (international calls included) as I can hear from both ears and the volume is loud. I can hear people on the other side while others struggle to hear them during conference calls. - The mic on these are the best in the business as well. If you are listening to music on speakers on high volume, the person on the other end of the call will either barely hear it or can't hear it all. I work from home and my kids are playing in the next room but no one can ever tell that I work from home. In fact, people always compliment how clear they can hear me. I can also use these to join calls while I bike outside and they can't even tell that I'm on the go. They also can hear me fine even if I am at a Starbucks on a busy day. These cut out the background noise and make my voice very clear so never had anyone complain even in such scenarios. - The bluetooth connectivity is great. When I turn on the headphones, it instantly connects to my phone and PC. - These headphones are SUPER comfortable. I wear them 8 hours a day and no issues whatsoever. These are the most comfortable headphones I have worn. Sure, Bose headphones are comfortable too but they are not cut out for phone calls or voip. - Battery life is incredible. Never had issues going a full day or 2 without charging. Again, I am on a call all day so battery does drain overtime. This isn't the case if I'm just listening to something. - A lot of options and customization. You can choose what happens when you take the headphones on, put them on, how mute reminders work, etc., They've also fixed android PLT hub compatibility so no more complaints there. - Comes with the USB dongle. I use this on my work PC for calls, my personal PC for media consumption and my PS4 when I play games. Just plug and play. Cons: - Not a big deal but noise cancelling isn't the best out there. It's good overall I think but it won't erase your kids crying in the other room. - Micro usb instead of USB-C for charging. - Rarely but sometimes struggles switching between PC and phone. In such occasions, I need to restart the headphones when this happens. For anyone that are on calls all the time but also wants to have high quality headphones that can be used for media consumption, look no further. The quality gets better with every firmware update too. Best purchase I have made this year.

If you like to hear yourself, look no further!

Just received the headset so I can have one headset that works for my work laptop, home pc, and cell phone. In that respect, works great. The headset automatically switches between devices without a problem or user intervention. The sound quality is fantastic. Everything is very clear. The boomless mics are wonderful, I really mean wonderful. Other headsets that cost as much use the cheapest mics they can find and sound worse than my, leaving them to be a complete ripoff for the price. The mics even cancel out music playing in the background, no other headset does that. That's where the fun stops, and also demonstrates why I freaking hate ordering online without being able to look and try out first. If you wear glasses, go somewhere else. After 30 minutes, the headset was totally uncomfortable. The ear cups sit on top of your ear, not around your ear. That alone drives me nuts. The ear cups puts pressure on the temples, jamming them against your skull and ear lobe. Very uncomfortable and gets painful fast. Also, my ears starting getting hot. Not good for all day use. My Logitech G430 can be worn all day, no discomfort issues at all. Not with these, and they cost 5x as much. The final problem absolutely no one brings ups: I can hear myself when on a software phone: Skype, Zoom, Discord. A "feature" called Sidetone. I tried all three, and had to end the calls early. That is completely unacceptable. I cannot stand hearing myself. I can already hear myself when I talk, I don't need the headset adding to that. If you follow Plantronic's instructions to turn off the feature in Windows Sound, you will not get any relief. I called Plantronics to see if they can help turn off this annoyance. Right away, the answer was no. Plantronics Hub has 3 options: High, Medium, and Low for Sidetone, completely neglecting the "Off" option. The low option isn't low, I cans till clearly hear myself. There are no plans to add an "Off" option. For this reason, the headset only deserves a 1 star. There is no excuse for any product manager to approve a product that doesn't give full control. With all the people complaining about this problem with other headsets, there really is no reason to not be able to fully turn off Sidetone.

So I was in the market searching for a replacement headset to the Plantronics, focus headset. Although I really liked the headset I didn't like the fact that it was kind of bulky with the boom. Mike. I was looking for a headset that was truly wireless. Had comfortable foam padding, a headset that would not wear out and that was really premium. Well look no further than the Plantronics Voyager 8200 This headset is absolutely premium and luxury. The nice design is good for either business or for play. I am using it mostly for business. I am typically on very long WebEx calls every single day. I love the fact Plantronics, has chosen over the years to in a paired USB Dongle for fast use on a PC(auto paired for the headset). You can pair your cell phone, table or another PC all at once. This is handy The ultra nice padding on the ear pads are a very nice touch. The padding on the top portion of the headset. It's soft and guarantee not to tear over time like other products. I have. Love Plantronics for countless years. Even using some of their wire products. When I found out that NASA used them, I've figured I couldn't go wrong. All of the buttons on the headset are in optimal places. Comfortable. Very easy for you to get familiar with and know what settings you need to adjust. I love the design inside of the ear pads that let you know the left and right pads. You would not believe on some headsets how you can put them on backwards time after time. I love the fact that the ear pads themselves swivel so you can lay them down flat. Again. You don't have to worry about the padding eroding this is a premium headset. It does include a micro USB cable. I'll address that a little bit later. It keeps 3.5 mm input jack for those who like to keep the analog or need it to plug in for meetings. One of the things that I really liked about this headset is how quiet it is. I noticed another co-worker reminds that have it. I typically don't buy things that other people may have. Again as stated, I do love him comics. But when I notice me and him both was in a room. And he was barely whispering in the headset. Does not have a mic but a Omni Mike and was able to pick him up. I was convinced that this headset was pretty formidable. The stylist design on the side of it enhances the headset. This will continue to get five stars for me. My only gripe is the fact that Plantronics typically will not change their design from many years. That brings some comfort but also a level of disappointment. Especially seeing that it does not have a USBC charger which is very current and up to date for high speed charging. Rather they chose to include steal a micro USB charger cable. It's okay. It's just you're going to have to keep up with it. Especially seeing now most of the chargers that come out or cables are USBC. All in all, if you're looking for anything premium something is guaranteed to be with you for years on end. You will want to pick you up One of these Voyager 8200 Bluetooth headsets. I have been rocking the Plantronics focus for 3 and 1/2 years and it still has not broken down. However environment and need changes. This is what warned it the change. I do use the focus for my everyday home use. in the office and for business I am using the 8200.

I've used these every day for the past four years now. I haven't ever felt like I'm missing out on anything or regretted using them - they handle meetings really well, and I can wear them all day without my head getting tired. Pros: - The headphones are comfortable (I have a large head) - Music sounds great on them - The dual microphones do a great of picking up my voice but not background noises (like kids, etc) when I'm on meetings - The noise cancelling works well with three settings (off / low / high) - I have used them when mowing the lawn and it helps a bit (but doesn't eliminate the lawn mower noise entirely) - The little USB dongle is simple and you can plug it in to anything that does USB audio (I've plugged it into a PS4 before in a pinch to get wireless audio) - Multi-pairing works well, I have it paired to my phone and my computer. - I only have to charge it maybe once a week - I just plug it in at the end of the day. It will warn me if the battery is getting low, so it doesn't die on me during a meeting. - Portable. I've taken them on planes etc and they've worked fine. - Can use with a headphone jack. (On the plane, I can plug into the jack to work with the TV on the back of the seat) Cons: - The earcups only lasted about a year (maybe two?). The Plantronics replacements are kind of expensive. I found an off-brand replacement that works just as well and last about the same amount of time.

I've had these for 2 years and they are starting to show their daily wear but functionally they are as good as new. I like the option for a wired connection in the event of a low battery. I can connect my phone and laptop at the same time. I can get audio from my macbook and when a call comes in from my phone the laptop cuts out for about a second and the phone takes over. The delay can be annoying and sometimes my laptop battery suffers and headphones try to connect and listen when the macbook isn't playing anything but the phone is but I just turn off the device that isn't in use and everything works out fine when I do that. The power is usb mini and it would be more convenient if it were usbc like most of my devices.

I do inside sales out of my home office and use Ring Central for my telephone system. I wear my headset for at least 8 hours a day. I had the Bose QC45 for almost a month. Noise cancelling was superior but it was very difficult to hear the sound of my own voice, which turned into more of a distraction every day. The way this headset connected to my laptop, on every 6th outbound call, I could hear the receiver but they could not hear me. Whether or not they would pick up the second time I called was a crapshoot, so I had to get rid of them. I briefly tried out the Jabra Elite 85H. Sound quality was excellent, noise cancelling was great, but it had an annoying feature which shuts off the noise cancelling the second a phone call is made. These are made primarily for cellphone music listening with an occasional phone call. OUT! Also briefly tried out the Plantronics Voyager Focus 2 UC. Most expensive underneath the Bose and definitely most comfortable, but the sound quality on the Voyager 8200 is leaps and bounds better. GONE! Which happily leaves me with the Plantronics Voyager 8200 UC. It's nearly as comfortable as the Bose for almost half the price. Sound quality is not as good as Bose but for the money it is MORE than sufficient. Ditto the noise cancelling, and unlike the Bose the Voyager's mics are wired as such that I can actually hear my own voice while the noise cancelling is on. This is the beauty of this headset. Add to that an audible volume dial on the left ear which beeps progressively higher as you turn up the volume or progressively lower as you turn it down. I am hearing impaired and the volume is more than adequate. Also, only ONE receiver couldn't hear me after making 60 or 70 calls. It's reliable. My only very frivolous complaint is that every other headset I tried has a super cool hard case and this one, the one that I love the most, comes with a super-cheesy fabric pouch that adds ZERO to the aesthetics of this headset. Small price to pay. GET the Voyager 8200 UC. For the money, THIS is the headset you want. It rocks.

I don't know how these reviewers are giving this product a good rating, but the sound quality is not great. I work remotely and am on a call all day with one or more team members. For me with regards to hearing someone else, I feel like I have stuck cotton in my ears or that I'm locked in a closet somewhere trying to hear what is said outside the door. As to someone else hearing me, I'm told that I'm not so clear either. The first thing I noticed after wearing it for 20 minutes listening to a YouTube review on this product's features, my jaws and head hurt from the squeezing. The ear piece is way bigger than my ears, so it's obvious that one size does not fit all. For me, this is NOT a comfortable over-the-ear headphone! Yes, it has some cool features, but is it worth it? I think not for $162.00. I can find better sound quality and comfort elsewhere. I may have to go back to a wired headset. The Plantronics DSP 500 or the Plantronics Gaming Pro has better sound and noise cancelling, as well as very comfortable that I could wear all day without it hurting my jaws, my head, or my ears. This headset is going back to Amazon.

I've used these for work for 4 years straight and they've been nothing but a joy to have. The connection is always solid when using the dingle and even has quite a long range if I walk around my house. The noise canceling is good and I think the background sound canceling is good as because I never get comments from coworkers of background noise. The sound when using for music is also good. The price is a little steep, but given I've used these for 4 years straight, I feel like I've gotten my money's worth and more. Also, some commenters have noted that the cushions don't last that long. I think this is dependent on the length of hair around your ears. If you have short buzzed hair where the cushions sit, I could see them getting worn down fast, since the short hair is like stubble. However for me, I don't have buzzed hair and I've only replaced the cushions once in 4 years.

Update: Firmware was updated on Everyday and resolved the issues with Doom. Good headphones! ANC isn't perfect, but it works well enough to get the job done. Apparently it's a known issue. Headset is hit and miss on working for Zoom meetings. Some people it seems to work fine, I am not one of the lucky ones. I bought the headset because one of my roommates is rather a loud individual. The headset does OK with ANC, though it prefers to block steady noise rather than all external noise (at least until you configure it properly with an external app you have to download from Poly's website. Once that's on your system it'll block noise down to 80 dB, which is quieter than it sounds. However.. it doesn't really like to block speech, particularly in the alto-soprano range. It also doesn't like Zoom. You'll get side channel, so it sounds like everyone can hear you. But they can't. You also may or may not be able to hear them depending on how the headset feels about your ability to talk to your coworkers. Since I bought it for ANC it's acceptable, but I'll have to headset swap for meetings which blows. Particularly with the price tag on this headset.

I've been using Plantronics - Voyager 8200 UC since 2019. I've tried other headsets. Among them, Jabra Evolve 65, 75 Flex, and the Bose 700 Noice Cancelling. And I've come back to the 8200. I thought I had a winner with the Bose, but they only worked well for about one month; then I started having issues with audio. I use headsets exclusively for work; Zoom calls, and the 8200 is just more reliable. Not the most comfortable of the three, but def most reliable. If only Plantronics could shed some weight.
