Cant find a working car charger for iPhone 7 plus...really?!?
By CWB on Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2018
I received this yesterday, tried it out, and it simply would not work no matter what I did. The green light never game on at all. I even bypassed the lighter socket by carefully connecting some seperate wires from the car battery directly to the contacts of the charger, and it still wouldnt do anything. I tried flipping the cable where it plugs into the phone as I read online that sometimes it can help? Nope, didnt work. This is the third car charger I have ordered for my iPhone 7 plus that did not work, awesome! The last two were offbrand, and I thought that might be the issue. But I guess Belkin isnt any good for chargers either so far. I can charge my phone just fine with a USB cable on my desktop PC, or from a wall charger, but car chargers magically dont work? I called Amazon since I dont see a way to contact sellers any more, and they are sending me a replacement. Hopefully it will work, FOURTH time's a charm?!? UPDATE #1 on 2-28-18 Amazons replacement charger arrived yesterday, and it too didnt work on my truck. After calling Apple and two Apple phone certified businesses, they all recommended trying the chargers on a different vehicle. Today I had my brother come over and we tested both of the Belkin chargers on his Oldsmobile. Again, I did everything I could think of to get these Belkins to work, and they didnt work at all. We tried both ports on both chargers, shifted the positions of the chargers in the cigarette lighter, flipped the lightning cables in the phone, ran a voltmeter on the Oldsmobiles cigarette lighter to be sure it had power and it did, and my brother even plugged in his charger for his android phone and it started charging his phone just fine. At this point Im running out of options, this is far beyond ridiculous. It shouldnt be THIS hard to get a working car charger for a iPhone 7 plus. Next I guess I will call Belkin and see what they have to say about it. Will update with any results. UPDATE #2 on 2-28-18 I just got off the phone with Belkin. The rep was very nice and is going to send me a replacement directly from a Belkin warehouse. He promised me this unit would be tested at the warehouse to be sure its working before it ships, so hopefully I will get a good working charger this time. Maybe there was a quality control issue with this specific model?!? But that still wouldnt explain the other non Belkin chargers not working as well. I will update again after I receive and test the direct Belkin replacement. UPDATE #3 on 3-7-18 I just recieved my second replacement from Belkin, and even after the Belkin phone rep promised me it would be tested at the warehouse, it too didnt work. I ran through all the same processes trying to test it every way possible, and it simply did not work no matter what I did...including connecting the hot 12 volt wires directly to the contacts on the charger. So I called Belkin yet again, and talked to another Belkin phone rep. They are sending me yet another unit, but at least they didnt want the old one again so I dont have to worry about mailing it back to them. If this next one doesnt work, I guess I will give up on having a charger for my iPhone 7 plus in my car. This is ridiculous x 10 haha.
