Nintendo Kirby: Star Allies (Nintendo Switch) - Switch

I only had experience with two Kirby games to this point: the original Kirby for the original Gameboy and Kirby and the Forgotten Land for Switch. My wife loves Kirby so I got her this as a gift. She likes it. She likes classic Kirby. I personally am indifferent to Kirby. I think Kirby is great on NES and Gameboy and Forgotten Land was a fun game to play but I did not enjoy this game. It bored me. So it's a classic 2D sidescrolling platforming collect-a-thon with modern graphics. There's this ability to add enemies to your party and use their powers and combine them with yours to play the game. That's cool. But after a couple of levels of doing this the game just felt like old NES Kirby with modern graphics. There wasn't anything new or exciting about this. Even the "ally" ability didn't really make the game more fun or add much to the game for me. That said, if you're a fan of Kirby then you probably will like this. If you're used to 2D platforming Kirby you'll likely be interested in this game. For me though, I prefer Forgotten Land and the old old Kirby games.
