Excellent surround av receiver and speakers a best buy for the buck!

As to this system, it is very good, excellent sound at low price. The subwoofer is a 6" passive, meaning it is powered by the built-in amplifier (don't let that dissuade you! It is AWESOME!). It has Bluetooth, and many connections for a variety of situations. I have enjoyed mine for a few months now and have few complaints. One is the 1080/ARC capability. It didn't work for my Roku, so I had to forgo using one HDMI cord to provide sound and picture for the 4 HDMI outlets in the back. I had to go back to an optical audio cable and use the HDMI ports on my TV. The PDF guide does tell you that the HDMI ARC capabilities are not guaranteed to work in every situation, so that is warning in advance. It was no problem for me since I have plenty of HDMI ports on my smart TV. Also, keep in mind that if you do want to use the HDMI ARC to provide audio and other HDMI devices, your TV must have an HDMI/ARC port. Overall a nice system, attractive, and the sound is good. I listen to symphonic music, classical, so sound quality is important to me. This one provides that quality. Update (2/26/21). I LOVE this system! I went to Youtube and played a "video" with audio frequencies from 20 to 20,000 hz. The subwoofer proved capable of playing the lowest tones, and the audio spectrum was even up to and past 10Khz (I can't hear above 10Khz!). This is a remarkable system. I am a true audiophile and component stereo enthusiast (since 1970). I listen to classical, symphonic music. I have played the 1812 Overture (with cannon!), the Saint-Saens "Organ Symphony" which really shows off the bass abilities of one's system with a massive pipe organ in the final movement. The Onkyo comes through amazingly well. Highly recommended!

False advertising and dead amp
By AmAZoNaToR on Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2018
Bought ht this back in june 2018 as a xmas gift. it was false advertised as 5.2 and it WAS NOT this is a 5.1. It said New in the listing but the box look like it was mistreated or. A dog was chewing on its bottom corners. opened today on Dec 23rd and plugged all spearkers and a PlayStation and a tv via hdmi it sound preety good but seems to get really HOT fast at vol 35 -50 where i find it very odd. i dont know if the Bluetooth button in front pannel clicks down to locked position making other buttons including the power button or the remote control inoperable. i dont know if it broken or thats the way it is. So i was using the amp to watch a movie with the kids and after 2hrs the amp was operating very hot at vol 45 out 70 then it shut off to never turn on again now iam stuck with this dead amp with no return it since I threw out the original box but keep all literature. Called onkyo they advise to take it in for service for repair since it under warranty. The shop was a dump i still left it since by Onkyo- took bill of sales the shop guy did not accept it wanted a emailed copy instead so i did. Told him i just open the box 24hrs ago and he said he will “TRY” to repair it 8-20 days since Dec 26th i also mention the button in front he said thats not his job or issue i was like “???” I should’ve just return it. But since i threw the box out i dont know what to do-will update once i recieve the unit back. Amazon please Help!
