Good and affordable modem

Modem speed is consistently around 400 Mbps which is what I pay for to my isp, also it looks new even though it was sold as a refurbished item.

Item was as good as new (renewed purchase). This thing works well with my xfinity service. It did take a couple tries with xfinity support to get it setup right, but all good in the end. Very happy! now I don't have to pay a monthly modem rental fee. No wifi on this unit, so also added a router to go with it.
Works with XFinity, speeds are what I expect. Not trivial to setup with a Wifi Router.

I dislike "renting" HW from a internet supplier. In my new place, Xfinity was my only option. While I had problems with Comcast 10+ years ago, with no other options I was hoping things had improved. This modem works exactly as expected. When Xfinity came out to setup my service, the modem came up and I was able to plug in and get internet access with the tech here. Simple. One ethernet port and no Wifi, but a good price. However, I wanted to use my slightly older Netgear Nighthawk D7000 Wifi-Router as my primary connection into the house. It took calls to Netgear, Arris, and Xfinity before I found the right set of steps to get everything working. Not well documented, and none of the helpdesks could do much to get me working. While I reset things so many time across two days, I believe the right steps were: - Arris up and working (can see internet with a hardwired PC) - Cable from Arris to Nighthawk "Internet/Wan" port - Cold boot router - PC to ethernet port on router - Navagate to 192.168.0.1 (Nighthawk admin page) - Netgear Genie comes up, let it do its thing (10+ minutes) I had to have everything up before I could use 192.168.100.1 to get to the arris modem page, but it turned out that this modem is simple enough that the only thing I did when I got there was turned off all the the LEDs (blue and bright). I would hope other routers would come up easier. 5-stars for the modem (after the setup pain). I'm getting full speed and things have been solid.

"landline" home phone number box needed an un-firewalled port. Passing internet through that, I saw, dropped Gig speed down to 1/10th. This has twin Gig ports. My desktop computer Cat 5e cable clicked in right beside phone service Ooma..easy, no cluster of power bricks on the surge strip and jumble of boxes.

I purchased a refurbished unit to save money and my two concerns were whether or not it had truly been refurbished and not just resold, and second was that I would have a hard time registering it with Comcast as it might still be listed under Comcast as in use by someone else. It turns out that I did have difficulties getting it connected to Comcast but not for the anticipated reasons. To set up a new Cable modem the Comcast process was that I download an app to my phone and follow the procedure in the app, which was where I entered the MAC address of the new modem. But the app failed to function properly and I had to pay bloody hell trying to work through Comcast's support system. I worked as a lab assistant at Scientific Atlanta back in 94 &95 when this stuff was being invented so I knew exactly what needed to happen to fix the problem but I had an extremely difficult time getting in touch with someone who could do what I asked. At one point Comcast wanted me to wait 3 days for someone to come out to may house and fix the problem. At which point I was nearly yelling at the Comcast people trying to get them to work outside their troubleshooting "menu"/"flow chart". Once I finally did get connected to a person with the appropriate skills/knowledge the problem was resolved in a couple of minutes. The modem has performed perfectly ever since. I hope it continues to do so for years to come. I can still get a little upset at the Comcast person who insisted that I should wait 3 days to have a service person come to my house so I could finally have a working internet!!! **UNBELIEVABLE**

Came with no instructions. Was supposed to include the user manual, but no documentation included!?!? When I originally plugged it in, I thought it was DOA. No power, no lights, nothing. Decided to pack it up for return, but instead, I then decided to try a different power wire since the one in my box looked old/ damaged. Unit powered right up... Contacted seller to request a new power cord and was asked for my shipping address for the replacement to be sent right out. Hopefully it'll be received within the next few days. I was told to make sure to obtain/ use the power cord that is supposed to be provided because using a different power supply COULD damage the item after time. So far, so good (using my own power supply), but will return if any issues/ damage within the return window due to the replacement wire being used. Didn't really speed up my connection as i had already been using a similar modem/ router combo. This was a replacement, but i can honestly say the price is excellent as compared to others. This DID help with my connection constantly "dropping" throughout the day (which is why I needed the replacement), and was pretty easy to set up. No issues providing MAC address to ISP, came online right away with no issue. Now I'll just wait for the wire...
Four stars because it took Xfinity about an hour to provision it.

I'm on a limited budget. Gut I got a faster speed from Xfinity at a lower price so a new modem was needed. I got a "renewed" unit at a good price. I've been dealing with networks since 1988, so I'm not unfamiliar with the process. I did the heavy lifting on my end, which wasn't very difficult at all. Anyone with even a modicum of experience with home networking will have no problem. Some people say the phone app is a pain, but it did help. Then on to the Xfinity app. After three attempts and waiting for an hour I called support. I got a pretty nice person who was well versed in setups, and even he had a hard time provisioning it, but after about 50 minutes I was able to log into the Xfinity site. I'm not quite getting the speeds I should be, but I also have my network locked down pretty hard. But I can run 3 TVs, two devices running the SXM app, and browse with no glitches. If it had provisioned with the Xfinity app, it would have been 5 stars, but there hasn't been a modem yet I haven't had an issue with Xfinity, including their own.
