Great cooler and purchase
By TarheelJim on Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2019
I saw this during PrimeDays and decided to purchase it. I haven't owned a Yeti before and was looking for a durable and bag-style product. The Yeti is a perfect product for camping, day trips and longer travel. The first outing we used the cooler was for a camping trip to the Rocky Mountains. This was a primitive camp, with zero power and was during the summer. We used a frozen jug of water and had several frozen items in the cooler. From the first day to the third, our food, vegetables and meat were icy cold and we have to thaw the meat on the second day to cook it. This was while the cooler baked in a bear box in the summer sun. I'm sold on this cooler and Yeti and would recommend to anyone.

Nice, but not worth the obnoxious price
By Heather on Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2017
This is a very well constructed cooler and is good looking. It does what it is supposed to. However, this Yeti is obnoxiously overpriced. I found a similar cooler that was 1/8th of the price an kept ice for almost as long. While it may not hold up as well, I could replace it every couple of years and still save money. Yeti also only has a three year warranty. For $400 I expected a lifetime warranty. Finally, while the 40 is a massive thing of beauty, Keep in mind that when you fill it up, it can be extremely heavy. I bought a little two wheel cart for it. Last gripe, the cooler that is 1/8th the cost comes with two bottle openers attached and a dry pocket to store things. Yeti has these as options and it will cost you about another $50-100. Yeti should be an all inclusive package for the prices they charge.

More Convenient Than Hard Coolers

I use mine to transport fillets from long range trips. Currently using the 20 for that and not enough capacity so I ordered this 40. Thinking of getting another and selling the 20. Now I can carry to coolers with 80 plus pounds of fillets from boat to vehicle to home. Easier to stack in the vehicle. Easier to store when not in use. Too heavy for a day at the beach. For that I’m in the process of getting a Hopper BackFlip 28 and carry on my back. I understand the rational for Yeti discontinuing but that might be a product of not promoting the fact the 40 size also serves as a great carryon when transporting fish or meat on airlines. Keeps frozen items frozen for long periods. Hopefully they bring these back.
Yes for YETI

This portable cooler is a beast. I love the tote design which is high enough for wine bottles to stand up in ice but low enough so that it comfortable stands up in the trunk of my car. In terms of durability and cooling, it's a YETI! You could run it over with the car and it would be fine. I've filled it with ice and left it on my roof deck all weekend. On Monday, there's still ice!
Keep drinks cold, zipper hard to open

We purchased this for a Razor Run that we went on for 3 days. Because we had a 4 seater-side by side, we carried our cooler and our friends 2 Yeti coolers. They got really dirty but hosed off well. The zipper is hard to open and close, I dreaded getting a drink out so would always ask my husband to open it. By the end of the trip, both our friends Yetis zipper was split/broken. For the price you pay for these, that should never happen. So, in my opinion they are a bit over rated for their functionality. A subsequent cooler knock off would work fine for a fraction of the cost.
awesome for golf!

i was looking for a reliable cooler that would fit the rear basket on a standard golf cart, and this one's perfect for my use. a rep at a well known golf store chain tipped me off to this and also told me, that the (way smaller) flip 8 as well as the bigger hopper 30 will fit as well(the latter with some squeezing). i mention this, because this hopper 20 model is currently discontinued, and i'm glad i still found a brand new, authentic piece with all of its paperwork here. as for performance...? it is not my first yeti product and i simply don't think one can find anything better.

Perfect, smaller than expected but still works great. Taking off a star because it works like any other cooler but since it's a name brand it's overpriced
Worth the price

Perfect for day trips on boat for snorkeling, heading to the beach for sun and play. I decided to keep ice in the bag from store and put it on the bottom of the cooler. Put all food and drinks in and covered with ice in bag I collected from my fridge. Saved the hassle of wading thru ice and water to get drinks and food. Everything was refrigerator cold all day long in 80 degree heat of Bahamas.
Pricey, but worth the money.

While pricey, this cooler is pretty insane. It does a great job of keeping things inside cold, even in direct sun. Zippers are great and don't leak even the slightest. I got the Hopper 30 which holds a good amount of stuff, and gets pretty heavy when packed to the max. I bought it for my parents as a gift, but if I were buying for myself I would wait for a sale on it. No regrets on buying even at full price though.

This item is a gift and as such has yet to be used to fully rate the durability, sturdiness or leak proof qualities. It does look very sturdy, durable and has a great liner on the inside. When it was received however, I did note that it had a large ink mark on the Yeti lettering on one side as well as on the upper part of the cooler. Unfortunately it was not able to be gotten out. Doesn't interfere with function of product, just the clean look of it. :(
