So easy to install and very happy with the quality
By robert crowley on Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2019
These are super simple to install. The look is very high quality. The push-in connectors make everything a snap to do. And the springs that hold the lights flush to the sheet rock are very strong. 6 lights, so 12 springs, and all of them are consistently super tight. I've seen some negativity surrounding this, but my experience has been superb. Also, considering the cost of these, I thought there might be some inconsistencies with the color and light output. They are all exactly the same color, and the all maintain the same light output on the dimmer they are hooked up to all the way from full blast down to where they all turn off at the same time. (infinitely adjustable dimmer) I know this seems like what you'd expect, but I've seen, and still have, some whose light output is less consistent. I could not be happier with this purchase. If I had any issues, it would be that there is only slots for 2 wires in each push-in connector. Perfectly acceptable if the power comes in at the start of the series of lights, but I started mine in the middle of the series, so I needed a power, left run, and right run wires. So I did end up needing to cut the connectors and wire nut one set of connections. But really.... that was minor considering the rest of what I consider to be an excellent value.

Reliability is an issue
By 3 Dog Guy on Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2023
Update 10/31/2023: Thus far, 4 of the 10 basic 3000k 6” lights I installed 5-1/2 years ago have failed. 40% fail rate is not good. It’s the control box, not the light unit. I have one more spare, so I’m going to need to order more to keep as spares to replace in the event the rest fail. Thus far, the new ones that I installed remain working. ~~~~~ I got 10 of the basic 3000k 6” lights 5 years ago. As another reviewer has said, some control boxes may not last more than few years. 2 of mine have recently failed, and the culprit is the control box because when I installed a new box and connected the old light, it worked fine. They’re inexpensive enough and still available and easy enough to switch out that I’ve bought a few spares. I’d still buy again since maybe the design has changed. The new replacement lights look like they’re built a little differently on the underside part of the light that doesn’t show.

9 year old electrician!

I’m an electrician and we install these wafers in every living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and exterior decks on all of our new construction homes. They are so easy to install (4 1/8” holesaw is perfect size…or just trace template and cut out by hand with a jab saw)! Because of their extremely low profile, they can fit almost anywhere! They can even be installed if your home is partially blocked by a truss as long as you can slide the driver in!! They come with soldered ends already in a push-in wire connector making your wire connections an absolute breeze! The color selectable feature is the icing on the cake as it allows us to meet various customer needs depending on their light preference! These are also dimmable, and work flawlessly with a lutron LED dimmer. A few months ago, our local big box store stopped carrying these. Thankfully our supply houses still had them, despite the markup in price. Sadly, our supply houses don’t carry them anymore either. Apparently there was a buyout and these Lithonias are now made under the “Juno” brand. The Junos not only cost more, but are TERRIBLE quality compared to these!! Flimsy junction box, no push-in connector, less lumen output, quality control with their selectable switches often not working. When I learned these aren’t being made anymore, I quickly snagged some for my personal home to ensure I don’t get stuck with the Junos!! I put a 6” over my showers, 4 4” wafers in my living room, and 5 more for my kitchen. These are so easy to install that even my 9 year old son was able to do it after I got them cut in and wire ran! I would encourage you to snag these now while they last!! They’re awesome!!

So I’ve installed the classic can lights before because I was worried about the LED technology and price. But now that I’ve done both can and canless I don’t think I’ll ever go back. One challenge with recessed cans is making sure there’s enough space above the light. I always seem to cut under some AC return line or some random cross stud/joist. And if I can’t relocate the obstacle I end up patching the hole and moving the light and then my lights aren’t all evenly spaced. But that’s not an issue with these lights. They’re canless and require like less than an inch of clearance. And the little junction box/housing is also small and easy to manipulate. They can do this cause there’s no bulb. It’s just this flat crazy LED technology. Super impressed with the brightness too. I put four 6” lights in a bedroom and it was plenty... maybe even over kill. And the light is a much more brilliant true white light vs my traditional can lights which I’m realizing now have more of a yellow hue to them. Makes me want to replace all the lights in my House. One thing to remember, without the recessed can it’s a little messy. Between first and second stories not so much but with a roof above it it’s a little messy with the insulation. Overall it’s a great product and a great price.
Fantastic light quality, reasonable bright, good value, easy to install. One small flaw.

I can't say enough great things about these lights. They are indeed super easy to install and provide great quality light. I use the 3000K setting which is the warmest they can do. I was concerned that I might need a dimmer to reduce the intensity, but that was not the case. I have 6 of these in a room that's about 12 x 16 feet in size. The super slim profile of these allowed me to install one under an air duct that would have been impossible with the old-school can-style lights. This made the whole job much easier because I did not have to recalculate the placement of all 6 lights. My only complaint is that the included paper template that's used to mark the hole cutout is slight too large. I taped the template to the ceiling, drew around it with a pencil, and used a manual drywall saw to cut just inside the line. This resulted in holes that were all about 1/4" too large in diameter, making it difficult to get the installed light to completely cover the hole all around. I should have cut one hole and test fit a light before cutting the others. However other than that, these are fantastic and I would not hesitate to buy more.
Lithonia, Juno, and Cloudy Bay

I tried all 3 brands, LIthonia, Juno, and Cloudy Bay based on my preference for 3500k color temp and lumen output. The benefits of the Lithonias are: 1. Color accurate. At 2700, 3000, and 3500 they were all spot on with what I expected. Next to Juno at 3500 and Cloudy Bay lights, Lithonia was the most color accurate of the 3 outputs it was capable. Followed by Juno and then CB. CB is great if you want 4000k but all others just didn't look right. 2. Quick Connectors. These have quick connectors that just allow you to insert the wires and go. No twist connectors and makes installation a breeze 3. Large box. Juno comes in the same size box, but the latch mechanism just didn't hold and would pop out if the wires weren't deep in the box. CB has a smaller box with much less room to work with. 4. Large spring clamps. The clamps on these were big and allowed the force to spread out more. Good for the drywall applications where the spring clips might damage the dry wall. Juno doesn't come with plastic caps on theirs so you're much more likely to damage. CB came with plastic cabs, but they were shorter and almost excessively strong (and more damaging when I took them out to replace them). Cons: lamp cover doesn't allow much room for error so be sure to get the right hole saw. Juno was the most spacious. CB was on par with Lithonia and left little room for error. Update 7/2021: These do no work well with smart switches. I’ve tested these with Inovelli and GE Enbrighten and the experience has been really poor. Lights flickering

EASY INSTALL FOR ELECTRICIAN & LOOKS GREAT! EXTREMELY BRIGHT

I installed 6 in a 259 sq ft room with 1/2 inch sheetrock. I chose the 3,000 lumens lights which is a warmer white. These are extremely bright so you need a dimmer. I purchased the Lutron Caseta Wireless Smart Dimmer Switch and Remote Kit and love it! No humming, buzzing, or flickering - beautiful transition. BUY A HIGH-QUALITY DIMMER! The quality of your dimmer will impact the operations of your lights. Cheap dimmer and you'll run into issues (which is what many people are unknowingly and mistakenly ranting about in their reviews of this product). CUT 6" HOLES. Definitely cut 6-inch holes; which is smaller than the cut-out template supplied with the lights. Any bigger and you're dealing with wobbly lights. The 6-inch holes ensure a snug fit and leave no room for error or overcutting. Slipped under a ceiling joists that surprised the electrician (even after using a stud finder) without difficulty. They sit flush to the ceiling. Looks amazing! Makes the room look like a gallery of sorts! My electrician was really impressed with the light and asked to keep one of the empty boxes (probably for himself or to recommend to customers). Plan to use these throughout the house as I continue remodeling various rooms. And honestly, the content of the bad reviews suggest they don't know what they're doing. This is my first-time purchasing/installing recessed lighting and I am extremely pleased. I may, however, switch them out for the 3k/4k/5k option so I can choose between the color of light I want. The 3k is a bit yellow. I'm just afraid the 4k will be too white.

Amazon didn’t let me down. With 1 Day Prime shipping, I went from an idea to reality in under 24 hours. I used a 6 inch hole saw once I had my layout decided upon. I was able to simply connect to the existing wiring that my original light fixture was attached to. I had never heard of the wago connectors that these lights use, but they were extremely easy to connect. They basically just pop in. The only issue that I ran into was that when they are connected, there’s no turning back (not really a big deal). Higher end wago connectors have little clips that allow you to reset the wires if needed. The connectors are 3-way connectors, so I just daisy chained them together using 14/2 romex wire from a big box store. I cut the holes and fished the wires through the ceiling, while I waited for my Prime delivery. When the lights arrived, I was able to connect everything in about an hour. I opted for the 3K’s, which are extremely bright (I used 6 in one room). I also changed the light switch out for a basic switch/dimmer combo. Based on the ease of install and excellent price point, I’ll be installing these in other rooms where more light is needed.
