Great for a beginner set
By JULIAN S WEISENSEL on Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025
Really easy to use compared to traditional paint or watercolor with brushes. They are better than traditional markers b/c you don’t really see the registration marks that markers leave. There are lots of colors and you can blend them to make more however the largest set is probably better if you want even more variety. They are a good size and comfortable to use. They make really good marks and don’t require you to go over the same area a bunch of times. The water brush pen is useful for blending and simulating a watercolor look. I think they’re worth the money and would buy again when the paint runs out. For this drawing I used these brush pens, watercolor, gel pens, and micron pens.

ok to play with
By Sandra J. Fischer on Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2024
These are ok to play with, but one important thing...If you want them to act like watercolors, you need to be using just the right paper. I've tried on about 6 different kinds of 300 lb cold press water color papers, and some hot press paper, and I couldn't pull the color out with water to blend them. You can still see the original brush stroke, and barely any pigment moves. The only paper I used that they worked like I expected was Arches, and I'm certainly not going to use expensive paper like that to play on! Of course you can color with them on a palette and use them with a brush, but then what is the point of using them instead of regular watercolors? Another thing that I didn't like, well actually HATE was the packaging. It was so frustrating to use the pens and then try to get them back in the box. I looked for a case for them, but they were all around $20 and up, which added to the cost of the pens. I ended up spending $16 to buy a Nicecho marker set with 60 double sided markers and a nice case. I took the markers out and put them in a box so I could put the brush pens in the case. So I guess all in all I was pretty disappointed with them. Maybe I'll try using them on adult coloring books?
