I'm thinking of getting another one
By Randy Craig on Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2018
I love these speakers. I got them for my flat screen TV since it's sound was terrible. They connect easily and sound great. The battery lasts a good long time. I've used it for the good portion of a day and have only run it down to about 70%. I also like that, in a pinch, you can charge your phone from this. And of course, you can use it while it's plugged in and charging. It feels solid. Very good quality. The only issue that I have is with the app that they have which can control the volume from your phone. My experience is that it works once and then I get an error message when I try again. And, once connected to my TV, I can no longer use the volume control on the remote for my TV (the volume control on the speakers still work). But those are minor concerns to me. Several people who I've shown these to were very impressed with the sound and have bought their own. I'm thinking of getting another one. I got this one for $168 and find them very much worth the money.

Sony SRS-XB40 Speaker
By Dirty Bird on Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2019
I have collected a slew of Bluetooth speakers & purchased this one along the way. The speaker is solid, well-constructed, with a rubbery matte finish that protects from minor bumps & isn't too bad with fingerprints. The sound quality & achievable volume are very good, with a nice base punch when the Extra Base feature is activated. It pairs quickly & reliably with multiple devices (up to 5 devices I believe). The battery life is good with one MAJOR issue: Once the battery drops to 50% the volume level is cut to a level so low it becomes essentially useless. Sony this is just DUMB! Please fix this with a firmware update! The design is nice & the lights look cool. The effects can be adjusted via an app. Sony needs to do some work on making the lights work more effectively with the sound. Its not that they don't react to the sound, rather they just seem to be reacting randomly rather than in a manner that reflects the music. It looks cool but the light display is sort of all over the place. I only purchased one so I can't comment on how well they work when paired. Bottom line is it's an attractive design with good sound, attractive but discombobulated lighting effects, & a ridiculous battery limitation that renders the speaker essentially useless once the battery drops to 50%. Also there is no provision for a Micro-SD card to play music internally.
