Bright Light , Not Perfect

Gold Armour LED Camping Lantern 4 Pack, Gray I bought these lanterns to illuminate our house next time we lose electric power. I won't repeat all the fine reviews here, which I can verify are true. I had one question, which was not addressed. When the light is partially on, do you reduce battery drain? No! These lights are either on or off. Of course it is possible to have this feature but I would not like the price. I compared this light to a 40 and 60 watt equivalent LED 110 volt bulb. It appeared to be a little brighter than the 40 watt. These are 500 Lumens. One thing we can agree on, is looking directly into the light at close range will have you seeing stars. Color is white, estimate between 2800 and 3000 degrees K. Brightness and color are subjective topics, so your experience will probably be different. This set is supplied with AA batteries for each lantern. Some people complain about them being "cheap". Each lantern costs about five dollars. This is a high quality lantern, a steal for the price. I had the option of checking all of the lights with the included batteries. Then, I removed the batteries from the lanterns. I buy the 40 pack of AA batteries from Amazon. It does not break the bank. What's not perfect? I had an issue with one of the lanterns and contacted goldarmourus@gmail.com. This information is included inside each lantern box. I described the issue and received a reply very quickly, as promised. The matter was resolved after a few email exchanges. I am now very pleased with the lanterns. Gold Armour customer service is outstanding. We do not live in a perfect world. When something is not up to my expectations, will the seller make it right? In this case - Yes! 5 stars for Gold Armour and 5 stars for this fine lantern set.

Need tinkering to work with normal AA’s, but otherwise solid lanterns for the price.

The lanterns don’t actually work well with AA batteries. The ones that come with the lanterns are slightly longer and therefore the contacts don’t work well for the smaller AA’s. It’s a relatively easy fix. You just need to jam something behind the contact plate on all three contact points for the plus side, but having them come only partially functional without work is ridiculous. They still get 3 stars from me however because once they’re up and running, they’re awesome. The light is incredibly bright, and it’s cool to not have to deal with buttons. It’s also nice to be able to adjust light output by only opening it part way, though there isn’t an energy saving mode where the actually energy use is reduced. I’ll also add that while I haven’t tested them in extreme weather, I would honestly be surprised if they could handle sitting in even light rain. They have no gaskets and the threading for them doesn’t even go all the way around, so the battery compartment is likely to quickly fill with water. Overall, if you didn’t have to put work in to them just to make ‘em work, they’d have a 5 Star review from me. I’d honestly even buy them again if I need more lanterns.
