This is very good monitor and the despite you cannot save changes made to some functions, the colors and contrast out of the box are very good, my unit do not have any dead pixels and the I do not see any back light bleed; if there is any BLB, it is very imperceptible. That is the reason I give this unit a 5 stars. Some people have complained about the menu not being so intuitive and difficult to handle; I did not have any problem to memorize it but I have to admit that it could be better, especially that the switch button should not be that close to the other buttons because it is very easy to make a mistake and turn off the unit. Out of the box the unit is very bright, colors are saturated and my unit was a little bit blueish so I turned the blue down to 97 and left the Red and the Green on 100. Gamma was set to 2.4 and the brightness to 80. Other than that, everything was left on default. For me, it is very important how colorful, contrasty and image oriented the unit is and I cannot complaint about that at all. I setup my unit to 144Hz but I also tried the overclock to 165 Hz. IMHO, the difference between both are not visible at all, not to my eyes anyway. It is very smooth and fast and you can feel the difference between a 60 Hz and a 144Hz monitors. There are two cables that I had to connect only, the power supply and the display port. I cannot advise on how good the speakers are because I did not even bother to try them since I use a headset, and I did not plugged the HDMI cable as well, since there is not need in my case because I am playing in PC. The HDMI would help those who would like to connect this monitor to their consoles ( Xbox or PS4 ) and it will limit the Hz to 60. There are some functions inside the menu that are very nice, like the Dark Boost which only enhance the blacks and leave the whites intact. If you want to bring details out of the blacks, turn it on and you will see the difference, it is very nice. Adaptive Contrast is also worth to try since automatically adjust the right contrast to the scene. Before I bought this unit, I was undecided about the 4 competitors : Acer Predator XB271HU, the Asus and the Viewsonic. The first two have had very negative reviews due to their strong back light bleeding and the Viewsonic was the least with that kind of problem out of the three, so I decided to buy it and I do not regret. You are getting the same out of the three but the Viewsonic is coming already assembled ( the stand is already attached ) and the only thing you need to do, is to plug the power supply and the display port and that is. A couple of adjustments and it is ready for you to play. I recommend this unit to whoever would like to upgrade. If you have a Nvidia video card, this is a great monitor to buy or wait a few months for the next technology but be prepared to pay more than a thousand.

Defective refurbished on mine
By shihaowang on Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2017
The model is great, well-packaged,everything looks cool before I started to use - It's totally broken, don't even show its logo or "no signal". All I got was blank with huge blb, tried several times and it just didn't work. Since the package does not damaged at all, I doubt this refurb product is defective and has returned, so don't buy
