Great alternative to Plastic Straws, easy to clean, and can not taste the metal
By Sage Elias on Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2018
These are amazing! At first it was weird changing from Plastic straws because these metal ones dont mold to your mouth like the plastic ones, so it took a couple days to get used to their stiff shape, but after the brief 2 day adjusting period they are great! Great (and cheap) alternative to plastic straws, and they clean very well. Can't taste the metal when you are drinking, which was one of my main concerns when buying them, so that was a relief! The cleaning brush also works very well! I love these! They are also very long, they even work well with Large movie theater cups! Which was great because we always get a coke freeze at the theater (you can't drink freezes like regular drinks, you need a straw) So I just bring one of these with me to the theater and use it instead of the plastic straws, and it is comfortable to use. I would definitely buy again, I love them! As far as packaging, they came in a plastic ziplock bag with a paper infographic inside, the paper is recyclable, but I was not sure about the ziplock, so i had to throw that away.

and it's not too bad. They are a bit on the long side
By E. Jorgensen on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2018
There's a slight metallic taste when drinking acidic (citrus) beverages, which means that the metal is not fully passivated. Stainless steel is mainly an alloy of iron, chromium, and nickel. Passivation is a process where the metal is exposed to an acid that eats away the exposed iron, leaving a chromium-nickel surface that is a lot less reactive. As it turns out, FDA approved processes for the passivation of food-grade stainless steel tubing include pumping a sodium citrate solution through it, so i presume that this will eventually fix itself, and it's not too bad. They are a bit on the long side. An inch or so longer than standard plastic drinking straws. They are strong enough, but the metal is thin enough that i would hesitate to let children use these. I was reaching over a tall glass with one of the bent straws in it earlier today and my arm scraped across the straw. Took off a good flap of skin. I think if they were thicker walled, and thus duller, that might not have happened. *shrug*
