Sharp SMC1585BB 1.5 Cu. Ft. 900W Convection Microwave Oven (Open Box)

About the same week (May 2023) I bought this microwave/convection oven I was diagnosed with Advanced High Grade Ovarian Cancer. Because of the extensive treatment (surgery and chemo) I was unable to try the oven out until recently. When I tried to use the convection oven the turntable would not rotate nor did the turntable holder. Now the turntable does not turn using just the microwave. I thought I could live with this (no cancer pun intended) but I find it impossible. Today the light quit working. I am so unhappy that this beautiful oven does not work properly especially since it has barely been used and looks brand new. Even more disappointed that I cannot use the oven for the holidays. Not sure if this is my last holiday season. I am still pretty sick but since my chemo is over I expected to be able to do something simple as cooking and I thought hurray this oven will be a help. It doesn’t seem fair to be fighting cancer and dealing with the oven. Cancer treatment has been so expensive I cannot afford to purchase another convection/microwave. Just thinking about dealing with this product and cancer has been enough to bring me to tears. I contacted Sharp and they were very kind but could not help me. They said the warranty expired in 1999 but I bought the oven new 5 months ago. I found the problem is that the turntable holder possible etched a notch off the turntable rotor. One tiny little piece and it doesn’t work. Sharp said this part was no longer available. From the reviews it appears that I might have bought a lemon. Be sure and test this oven well if you do not buy the extended warranty. You only have 30 days to find any defects.
