4PC Stainless Steel 8.6Qt Stock Pot Set

This is a nice quality cook set that works great on our induction cook-top. It boils water rapidly and the pasta insert works well when boiling uncovered. However, when using the pot with the original lid (this lid does not have a 'drip' edge like other lids from Duxtop; see ASIN B00GD3366S ) steam condenses on the inside of the lid and runs down and collects on the inner ledge that holds the pot lid. As the water boils, the lid bounces and splashes hot water onto the cook-top. This happens with the stockpot itself (even with only a few inches of water in the bottom), with the pasta insert, and with the steamer, both when it is supported by the pot alone and when it is supported with the pasta insert. I found a lid that has a 'drip' edge in my cabinet that fits this pot and the splashing problem is solved except when using the steamer insert. I cannot find a lid that allows use of the steamer without the splashing problem since the inner diameter of the steamer is only 9". The dimensions of the pot are: outside diameter - 10.25", intermediate diameter (e.g. where the lid sits) - 9.75", inner pot diameter - 9.5". The pasta insert bottom comes to about 1.5" from the bottom of the pot and has an interior diameter of 8.625" and holes up 5" from the bottom. I am rather sorry that we bought this set due to the hot water splashing issue that prevents us from being able to use the steamer insert, but it is crafted well and the pot and pasta insert should give us years of service.
