Works better than expected and I ordered another one.

If you are a handyman/handyperson, then this is a suitable Do-It-Yourself (DIY) installation project. You will need the right tools and expect to clean up a very dusty mess. After I installed the Return Air Pathway vent above the bedroom door, I immediately noticed an improvement in the air circulation. This works so well, that I ordered another one. I also bought and installed a closeable vent on the bedroom side.

They do work.

Have 4x of these. They do work for 2 things: 1, they can keep a room cooler, for my purpose. Have them installed high up on the wall (about 10ft) in 3 bedrooms with vaulted ceilings. Our lazy building standards in Arizona don't require return vents and I like to seal up doors for noise and light purposes. These allow warm air at the top of the room, closest to the path back to the high-up air handler intakes, to flow out as cooler AC air comes back in the other side of the room. All 4 of these made a very obvious difference in everyday comfort; before, those rooms became uncomfortable whenever doors were shut, especially in rooms used for exercise and sleeping that got noticeably warm after awhile, or just "dying for that next AC cycle to start up" feeling. Up on a ladder in the hallway, I can feel the rush of air pulling back out of these. If helpful, I used a 12x12 Tamarack in each room that has about a 12x6 inlet, feels about right for my setup. 2, they relieve pressure when doors are closed. Even without testing equipment you can easily feel this difference in your ears and in the bump/rattle/whistle of doors breathing when the central air turns on or off. Why not 5 stars? Well, they're expensive and pretty lazily made. All of mine had problems, like faceplates not fitting over the lips of the connector duct, duct not fitting over the other side or being deformed, screws not aligning with the duct lips, little paint chips on a few grills, etc. If you went to a big box store and bought some cheap painted steel vent covers (that's all these are, they're not nice powder coating or have any nice looking screws or screwless covers etc) and some chunks of square low-quality duct (again, that's what you're getting) it would probably cost you about... $25-35 vs the $70+, not counting caulk and tape to seal up the badly fitting connector tunnel, for 12x12 units. What does this add? It adds a piece of honeycomb cardboard to lessen the light and sound. In my setup, with the vents installed way above ear level (a little less direct of a path for sound), I don't notice any light or much extra sound since adding these -- honeycombs seem to work. Does that extra piece of cardboard make these clunky looking things a good value, especially the "spendy" larger sizes? Not really. We have a mountain of other renovations and didn't want to make this small upgrade into a big design project, and they're up so high you don't really look at them, so they worked for us. If you don't like getting creative, these are good too. Overall, I would highly recommend this TYPE of product for improving a bad airflow design with "hot spots" and other problems (has worked great in 2 homes now), but recommend this specific brand/product only if you aren't skilled at engineering your own creative solutions and won't notice the clunky look. Before buying this, research jumper ducts and consider if you could either save money, or put the same amount of money as a Tamarack into a custom solution with nicer grills or a sound-isolating duct design.
