Unreliable Piece of Junk - Save your money and buy something that will work
By Brandon Bard on Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2017
We bought this unit in July 2016 and it worked great the first season. We kept it out of the rain, followed all the instructions, and other than the cord getting tangled, the unit was a great replacement for the old Polaris we had that wore out. Plugged it in to open the pool last month, and it will not work properly. The unit moves forward about 3 feet, then backward, then just stops. I tried everything to fix it, but cannot get it to work now. The electronic boards are fine, there is no corrosion or damage to the motors, and the darn thing should work! I've tried contacting Maytronics with no success -- Their warranty registration doesn't even recognize the serial number. My next step is to contact Pool Express (the seller) and see if I can either get a replacement unit or repair parts. I've read other reviews about the Maytronics cleaners and their consistently unreliable operation -- $700+ is a lot of money to spend on a motor, motherboard, and piece of plastic that only lasts one season. I'd advise against purchasing this and look for something more reliable.

This definitely worth every dime!! Wish i had bought sooner! Cleans sand, leaves, and algae!! Goes up walls and is just amazing! We used it just after opening our above ground pool and ran twice bcuz debris was so bad! It cleaned everything without burning up our Pool filter! Very user friendly and very easy to clean!! My husband is a super penny pincher but when he didn't have to hook up a vacume and take apart the pool filter to clean 500 times just to clean the pool he was thrilled!! He said we shoulda bought a long time ago!!! Would have saved us hours of cleaning ourself!
Works great - 1 negative thing

I love the robot. I initially wanted a cordless, but after extensive research and reviews the power is just not there, so I went corded with this model. I also purchased an ultra fine filter basket since my dogs track fine dirt in. The thing is a beast and very happy for the price. The only negative I have is unlike some other models/mfgs this does not have a mechanism to keep the cord from tangling. Every couple days when I empty and spray off the ultra fine filter, I have to unhook and un coil/tangle the cord. That is a pain. If they have a next step up model that has that feature and it is not much more $ I recommend that.

What a great little robot. We gave it a big job and it just keeps working. Very pleased. 50,000 gallon saltwater pool, with 10,000 gallon zero edge overflow tank. We just drop it in both and it cleans everything. Walks up the sidewalls, even crawls up on in pool steps and cleans them.
Cleaner quit after 16-months

Cleaner did a good job cleaning the pool with the exception of stairs. It does not clean stairs and benches well. Overall I like its simplicity and operation but not its durability. My cleaner quit after 16-months which is less time than I feel then my $800 dollar price tag justifies. It may have died after being left outside the pool in hot sun I'm guessing Electronics may be suceptable to summer heat. That being the case, I may purchase another dolphin unit, but different model, that is long established with strong reviews. Next, I will make the effort to not leave it in direct summer sun while not in pool. My feeling is overall the dophins are good but this particular model needs some durability improvements.

Let me start by saying I've only used this once. However, the first time was amazing. We have a 16x32' inground fiberglass pool with a safety ledge all the way around the pool. It has three seating areas and is 6' deep. We have live oaks close to the pool so we get little leaves in the pool on a regular basis. As you can tell, Our pool needs constant cleaning. The first time I used this robot, it cleaned every inch of our pool. It was amazing. It climbed the walls, scrubbed the benches, cleaned the safety ledge all without issue. It nice to plug it in, walk away and return to a clean pool. I will post pictures and and updated longevity review when the time comes. If it holds up well it will be receiving 5 stars.

This unit does a decent job, and seems to keep our pool clean. It seems to spend more time in the deep end of our pool, but for the most part covers the majority of the pool area. My main beef, is that if you watch the u-tube videos of this unit, it shows the power supply with all 3 options (Weekly timer, Fast mode, Delayed Operation) all lit up, and all of the these cleaning options available. When you actually get this unit, the power supply only has one of the 3 options (Weekly Timer) lit up and available to you. When I called and questioned this, they told me that the Cayman only comes with the one option for cleaning, and that is how it is going to be. Seems a little deceiving to me. I suppose this is why it is cheaper than the higher end Dolphin cleaners.
