Great upgrade coming from generic cameras.

Update (July 2017): After owning these for a few months, I must say, I want to buy more. Home integration with the Smartthings is great for easy and quick access to the view finder. The main application for it is a bit slow but I love the simplicity of setting up motion sensor alarms and being able to easily review a footage. I'm still using my iZtouch Chinese cameras in other parts of the house and I've come to hate using them. I'm thinking of buying two more of these Samsung cams and replace the Chinese ones all together. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before purchasing these cameras I was using some Chinese cameras (IZtouch). They did the job well but the interface used to control them was awful and they tend to fail on me regularly. These units, although refurbished, ,might as well have been labeled new. I love how small and compact they are and the quality seems really high. The base of the camera is actual metal, unlike my previous cameras, so they feel solid when mounting on the wall. The viewing angle is 130° vs the 96° I had previously which greatly improves how much I can see. I had to position the old camera on a corner to be able to see what I needed. With this camera, I have it flat against the wall in the living room and can see more than before. Video quality is great! The camera can do 1080p, but I lowered it to 720p so that the memory card can hold more video recordings. My previous cameras were 720p max and the image was often very blurry, which meant that the wireless chip was not the greatest at streaming. Reviewing videos would look choppy and artifact where as the Samsung camera would look clear consistently. The charging cord is much longer than the one provided with my previous camera, which made it easier to chose placement. I have them connected to a UPS so that they'll keep running even during a power blip. outage or other issue alongside my networking equipment. I know a lot of people didn't like the Smartcam app, mainly after the recent updates but I welcome it. I'm coming from a clunky Chinese app that would not work half the time or freeze when trying to access my cameras. The Smartcam app has a much nicer UI and I find it easier to go through my recordings with it. There are a lot of settings available and you can easily setup a camera through it. I don't like that I had to make an entirely separate account to login on the app instead of using my existing Samsung Account for my phone. The integration of the cameras to the Smartthings hub is alright but not the greatest. Doing so lets you access your camera's viewfinder easily but you don't get to make any changes to settings from the Smartthings app. You can however setup routines using your camera as a motion detector. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase. I wouldn't pay the full price of one of these cameras but ~$140 for two is pretty good. I'm currently using my older 2 Chinese cameras in other locations but I'm thinking of getting rid of them altogether and replace them with an additional set of 2 Smartcams.

4 Star Cameras, 0 Star Seller/Listing. Clearly used, not refurb, one broken!

I already have one of these and mostly love it. Samsung should include a feature to download clips to your phone/pc, or at least "share" the clip to Google Drive, email, text, or something. It does tie in with Samsung Smarthings but doesn't give much more features than the Smartcam app. Otherwise I love the system and the camera itself is 4 star product and really does rival Nest cam (indoor).......however..... this SELLER/LISTING is Zero star! Yes, 0, if I could give it. I ordered a 2-pack "Manufacturer Refurbished" but what I received was clearly used and both were scratched, with one fully broken. The broken one had a cracked lens and would not power on, I think the micro usb port on it is wallowed out and broke from heavy use. This is not even acceptable to sell as used, this was a broken device that needs to be trashed or sent back to Samsung to actually fix/refurb it. Yes, I know, I rolled the dice when I saw other reviewers complain of the same thing and I thought "maybe it's a mistake or two" but nope, I would not recommend ordering from this listing or seller. I've never had such a bad experience with a refurbished listing before but I will be even more careful going forward and if I see the slightest hint of customers receiving trash products I will stay away. Also shame on Amazon for keeping this listing as well, I sent seller feedback as well as this review so hopefully it gets addressed.
