Nice shoe for walking
By Herb McNaspy on Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2024
I do a daily morning walk and wanted something a little wider to accommodate my injured big toe.Shoes are very comfortable and fit well but the darn laces are way too long. When I tie them to keep from stepping on them, it looks like Mickey Mouse ears and I get tired of hearing the flopping when I am trying to enjoy being outside and alone. The shoes are fine and will last a long time but I gotta do something about the laces.

Merrell Men's Moab 2 Vent Hiking Shoe
By Amazon Shopper on Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023
ADDENDUM - the takeaway: Shoe is very well made and for city use will likely last years. The grey is also very attractive. For my narrow, shallow foot, I 've made this shoe work for me as it runs wide, but once I filled in the extra space, my foot doesn't slide forward and I find 11.5 is my perfect size, not too short at all. I added one thin insole plus one medium insole on top of the one that comes with the shoe, and I wear 1 pair of regular medium-weight socks plus an ankle sock over them, and that fills in the extra space at the front of the shoe. I find that I need to double tie the laces to keep them from coming loose. The shoe surprisingly is large enough to accommodate this. The extra thin insole made all the difference. This shoe runs small and is wide. OK for flat terrain, but with the extreme padding at the back top of the heel, your foot moves forward when walking downhill. Also, there is not enough padding at the ball of the foot. I'm wearing two pairs of socks and will now add a liner to see if that makes a difference. The heel is great, really comfortable and spongy, only the front of the shoe feels thin. Suggest you order 1/2 size larger than usual. Attractive shoe and got mine at a special price, so that's good. Review is for Merrill to correct the over-padded top of the heel and the shallow front of the shoe. By comparison, I bought a pair of Kricely Men's running shoes a day ago, haven't worn them outside, but from walking indoors they are narrow. Will likely get another pair of them. This is a very well made shoe. Both Merrill and Kricely are new brands to me.
