Most comfortabe shoe I have ever worn. I am a retired Podiatrist and take my word for it.These are great shoes. Not only for hikeing but for everyday. Great traction and well made. I just threw out my last pair which I believe were 10 years old. If the price comes down again I will for sure buy another pair. Can not attest to the longevity of this pair as I just purchased them. Don't ever change the way you make these.

Merrell Men's Moab 2 Vent Hiking Shoe
By Amazon Shopper on Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023
ADDENDUM - the takeaway: Shoe is very well made and for city use will likely last years. The grey is also very attractive. For my narrow, shallow foot, I 've made this shoe work for me as it runs wide, but once I filled in the extra space, my foot doesn't slide forward and I find 11.5 is my perfect size, not too short at all. I added one thin insole plus one medium insole on top of the one that comes with the shoe, and I wear 1 pair of regular medium-weight socks plus an ankle sock over them, and that fills in the extra space at the front of the shoe. I find that I need to double tie the laces to keep them from coming loose. The shoe surprisingly is large enough to accommodate this. The extra thin insole made all the difference. This shoe runs small and is wide. OK for flat terrain, but with the extreme padding at the back top of the heel, your foot moves forward when walking downhill. Also, there is not enough padding at the ball of the foot. I'm wearing two pairs of socks and will now add a liner to see if that makes a difference. The heel is great, really comfortable and spongy, only the front of the shoe feels thin. Suggest you order 1/2 size larger than usual. Attractive shoe and got mine at a special price, so that's good. Review is for Merrill to correct the over-padded top of the heel and the shallow front of the shoe. By comparison, I bought a pair of Kricely Men's running shoes a day ago, haven't worn them outside, but from walking indoors they are narrow. Will likely get another pair of them. This is a very well made shoe. Both Merrill and Kricely are new brands to me.

GREAT shoe if you have wide toes and need lots of support!

Wow! I have wide toes and fairly severe peripheral neuropathy in my feet. Based on reviews, I bought a pair of Hoka's. They were plenty wide, but lacking support. Today I tried on these Merrell Moab 2's, and they are unbelievable! They are wide in the toes but less wide elsewhere, and have a huge amount of lateral support. They also distribute my weight when walking much better than the Hoka's. They also look 1000% better than the truly ugly Hoka's, which are long and wide to the extent that they interfere with driving my manual transmission truck. They also look really sturdy. The Hoka's are falling apart after only a year of wear.

Fit (11 W) is on the money for me, shoes comfortable right out of the box, and they look (earth color) exceptionally cool.
It is as good as my first pair.

It is as good as my first pair of the same shoes. I never understand why people rate shoes as good fit or bad fit. YOUR good fit may not be MY good fit. With that said, my size is 9EEE. This pair fits me great. When trying on fit, always get it slightly loose. On all day long hike, your foot expands and you will need an extra half size. My first pair of the same model is very good. I walked a lot and the bottom is worn out by my VERY HIGH MILEAGE USE. I wish they make the sole even more durable. The upper is still like new after 3-4 years. Not stitching is worn out. No glued parts peeling off. No material become frayed. UPDATE: Still using the first pair. Will continue to use until the bottom is all the way worn thru or the pebbles start to annoy me. Upper is still good. The NEW pair is slightly larger at the toes area. So product tolerance is noticed but only if you are as OCD as I am. I used the new pair on a long trip. Walked 12 miles everyday for 21 days. Every pair of shoes will have a hot spot if you use it long enough or frequent enough. Again normal product variance creates different hot spots even for same model shoes. This is no exception. No big deal. Just expect the rub spot to be somewhere else. I will recommend this product and will buy again. I heard that for hikers, quarter pound on your feet is equivalent to one pound on your shoulder. So, they go light weigh on shoes selection. This shoes is not heavy but certainly not light weight.
Nice shoe for walking

I do a daily morning walk and wanted something a little wider to accommodate my injured big toe. Shoes are very comfortable and fit well but the darn laces are way too long. When I tie them to keep from stepping on them, it looks like Mickey Mouse ears and I get tired of hearing the flopping when I am trying to enjoy being outside and alone. The shoes are fine and will last a long time but I gotta do something about the laces.

Perfect shoes for light hiking, and walking on rough surfaces - and they a have wide toe box.

These are among the best shoes I've had, and that covers a lot of decades of shoe wearing. The wide toe box is for me the biggest factor. I do a lot of walking in an area that has many unpaved shoulders and paths, and they're perfect for those. minuses (not enough to dock a star): On sidewalks and paved streets, the insoles seem a little thin, like I can feel the tread pattern, but that's not a big problem for me. 54" laces too long for me; if you get new ones please note that in some brands the lace lengths are not as advertised.
Best deal for a super-comfortable wide casual shoe

I need a new pair of hikers, so I looked up my orders. I wear these guys 4-5 days a week & (according to my wife) they’re looking a little worn. They were purchased over four years ago in December 2021! I don’t know how many miles I’ve walked, or how many times these shoes have been soaked doing yard work or on the trail, but it’s been a lot. These are amazingly comfortable, fits a 4E wide feet with bone spurs & bunions and dry quickly without getting smelly. Truly a rare 5-Star product!

The most comfortable shoe I own. Have worn Merrell Moab2’s for years. Comfortable from day one. Have taken hiking vacations and bought new ones that I’d pack and start my touring day one. Never a blister or discomfort.
