Great option for kids
By Kristina on Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2017
I've been using this for my 5 year old daughter's school lunches for a week. So far, I've been very happy with it. She has a little difficulty putting the lid back on correctly, but generally manages. So far, it truly is leak-proof both between compartments and outside the container. My only complaint is that the white rubber that separates compartments stained very easily with the first use - not a big issue really. UPDATE: I've changed my review from 4 to 5 stars. This has been used 3-5 days a week for the last 8 1/2 months and has held up wonderfully. It's still in great shape, easy to clean, and has been completely leak-proof. This is a great product for the money!

Not worth it
By Erika Stanford on Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2017
I was very excited to get these for my kids lunches because they didn't leak and fit perfectly in the lunch boxes. I also like being environmentally friendly. Unfortunately when I went to pack lunches and try to put the lids on, it was nearly impossible. All three I received were the same so I'd have a hard time believing they were defective. I wouldn't suggest these to anyone because if I can't they it open or closed, I know my kids won't be able to either. I wish I could get a refund. Guess I'll be making a trip to the store for some better containers. I'm very disappointed and unhappy I spent so much on these.

Great for toddler meals!

I love these! I got them to pack meals for my toddler when she goes to daycare. They are perfectly portioned, and help me pack a balanced meal for her. I chose these because they are leak proof, microwave, and dishwasher safe. The leak proof is perfect, I can put applesauce or yogurt in one section without worrying it will ruin the rest of the meal. They can be tricky to close, just line up the seal with the container, press down in the middle, then close the sides while pressing down.
Great for adults, problematic for young children

I originally bought this for my seven year old son. I was ecstatic when I discovered that it fit in his lunch box but my enthusiasm was soon replaced by a feeling of disappointment when it became obvious that he couldn't open or shut it. I'm glad that I had him test it out before I packed his lunch for the first day of school! He wasn't even able to unlock one side of it. On the positive side, it's definitely a secure fit, you can be confident that nothing will leak out if it, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of use out of it once you get accustomed to opening & closing it. Although, if you're purchasing this for a young child my advice would be to move on to something else as they will need the assistance of an adult. While I love the container and kept it for myself, it does take some getting used to. It can be a bit of a struggle even for adults. The e-mail that the company sent out after the product was ordered was a nice touch and greatly appreciated. It provided tips on how to properly close the container which will come in useful if you find yourself struggling.

Flimsy latches

Nice color options, leakproof, and fairly easy to clean. The latches are very flimsy though. 2 out of the 4 have broken off after 6 months of daily use... I’m hesitant to buy another as a replacement for this reason. Good price however.
The best sinze ZipLock (and I feel like I've tried them all)

Since Ziplock discontinued their 3 compartment lunch containers (the best of all time) I have been on a quest to find a suitable replacement. Most are flimsy, or leak, or both. This has been a standout. It is light, easy to use and most importantly, leak proof. (We have been pretty happy with our YumBox, but still find some leakage between internal compartments, it's much heavier, the compartment sizes are smaller and is double the cost.) THIS bento lunch box is our go to. My son has been using his daily since the start of the school year, and it is holding up well (we handwash bc we are usually cleaning it up and then repacking it for the next day). I'm purchasing a second one (now that they are available again) for my other son.
Leak proof & Sandwich size

Great container for the price. It is leakproof and it fits a full size sandwich. It fits in my son's lunch box and works great. For those that have issues snapping the lid you just need to make sure it's lined up correctly, push down on the lid and then snap it and it's perfect. If you don't have it lined up and pushed down correctly the snaps won't shut and then will break....but this is what keeps it sealed so well!
Cute and durable but very difficult to open and close

I love the look and durability of this lunch box. It is indeed leakproof. The only thing is that it's really hard to open and close. I have difficult opening and closing it so in that sense I definitely don't recommend this for a child. I bought this for my two year old but since I'm with him in class it's ok because I open it for him. One of the tabs has actually already cracked. I bought another one for my husband and his had the same problem.
Very difficult to close, mold on lid, would not recommend for a child's lunchbox

I got this Bento lunch box for my 5 year old's lunch since we pack her lunch everyday. This thing is SO hard to close, me and my husband have a hard time doing it. I can usually get one or two sides down which is enough to keep it closed, but can never get all 4 sides down. We usually don't put anything in there that would leak because of this issue, so I can't even verify that it's leakproof. When her lunchbox comes home, all sides are up. I would never expect her to be able to close this on her own if we can't even do it. We have followed all instructions, hand wash it everyday, and from day 1 it's been hard to close. I was hoping it would loosen up over time, but no such luck. I would avoid this bento box if you're looking for a tight seal, that's easy for your child to open/close on their own. In addition, there is mold growing on the soft part of the lid, which makes no sense since we hand wash and dry it everyday. We don't even put anything wet in there...it's usually PBJ, goldfish or crackers, and some cut fruit like strawberries or grapes in there every day. UPDATE: The company is sending me a new Bento box. I will update this review accordingly once we try it out! UPDATE 11/28/18: This is the WORST bento style box ever. The company sent us a new one, and after awhile we had the same issues. We always wash this either by hand or top rack of dishwasher, and now this top barely closes. It is SO hard to close, and is basically useless. My 6yo definitely cannot close it on her own, so whatever leftover lunch she has spills all over the inside of her lunch bag. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT - IT IS JUNK!
Does its job well, if you take care when you put on the lid!

This leak-proof bento box is really great for sealing in liquids (small servings of soup, fruit salad, etc) and keeps sandwiches from getting soggy from the liquids. My husband uses this regularly. If you want the seal on the lid to last, you need to be careful to "seat" it properly (all the seals must be aligned), otherwise you can damage it--especially as the seal ages. We toss this into the dishwasher with no problems (the heating element isn't exposed, so no danger of melting). Also, be aware that this container is recommended for use by adults/teens because the lid is very difficult for children to put on and take off (it can be challenging for adults, too!). I would easily recommend this product to other customers who want a leak-proof container.
