Comfort for my tired feet

The Asics Gel Nimbus have been the only shoes that I have been able to wear for the past six years. I have small, really narrow feet and these are the only shoes that cup my heel without also cutting into my Achilles tendon. I have high arches and am an underpronator. I used to suffer from severe heel pain but the gel cushioning system completely eliminated it. Now I can walk for miles at a time without pain and the soles don't show uneven wear because the shoe stabilizes my foot when I walk. I like the breathability of the mesh upper; the airflow keeps my toes cool and sweat-free but still has enough coverage to handle a gentle rain. The inner padding is comfortable so I can also wear this shoe without socks, which is something that usually irritates my feet. It is a running shoe, but I am not a runner. I simply enjoy how the slope of the sole makes my foot pivot, it gives me a bounce to my step that I wouldn't otherwise have and actually makes walking easier for me. This shoe does require a break-in period. My very first pair of Gel Nimbus felt good right out of the box, but that is no longer true. However, once they are broken in I find them to be as comfortable as ever.

Go Up 1/2 Size...but not if you have narrow feet

At first I was not going to order this model because of the lower star ratings, but decided to give them a try. I think the main reason for the lower star ratings is because of the sizing issue, not the shoe construction itself. Thanks to all who gave sizing comments. I normally wear a size 6 tennis shoe and my feet are slightly narrow for a regular 6 B. The size 6.5 B of this model fit perfectly! The other reviews are correct. Go up at least 1/2 a size for length and if you have normal or slightly wider feet, you may need to go up a width. These are just as comfortable, if not more comfortable than my former Gel-Nimbus. Glad I read the reviews! This is an update to my first review. After wearing the 1/2 size up for awhile, my feet began to slip. I ended up having to wear thicker socks to run comfortably. But I kept having to tighten the laces, so finally gave up. I tried the Nimbus 20 and had the exact same issue. I started researching other brands, but didn't want to give up on Asics. I gave it one last try and went to the Asics store to try on the Nimbus 21. I tried my regular size 6 in the silver/grey color and my feet were on cloud 9 as they felt like my original pair of 17s. The fit and cushioning was so much better and back to 'normal'. I decided to also try the Nimbus 21 in black/white, size 6, and was surprised to find the fit was more like the Nimbus 19. My toe was jammed against the front of the shoe and the cushioning was less. It was very strange. I asked to try a different pair of black/white, size 6 to see if it was just a fluke. But, no, the same issue! The store manager was also surprised. It seemed to me the black pairs were crafted from the same mold as the Nimbus 19s. So I just stuck with the grey/silver that fit perfectly. I was happy that at least one pair fit and hopeful that future Nimbus will also stick with this original fit!
