Overall an excellent case
By imccubbin on Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2017
Overall this is a great surface case for the Galaxy S7. Very well made and sleek design which does not look cheap like some cases do. I used a Spigen tough armor case for my Galaxy S5 and used that phone for almost 3 years with Spigen case and it held up well and I was very happy with it. The case for the S7 looks just as well made and should hold up as well. The case is two parts, one rubbery part and one hard part that fits over a portion of the rubbery part on the back. The case is easy to install (I would remove the hard portion of the case before installing it so you can make sure the case fits well over the buttons. The case feels rubbery where it feels like you can maintain a good grip on the phone with out it slipping out of your hand. Some people reported the case was too slick like holding a bar of soap. Curious as I have the exact opposite to view. The case does come in two other colors and I guess it is possible the gold and grey tone cases are slicker but I don't know this as I purchased the solid black version. The case allows easy access to the charging port on bottom and has precisely made holes for the mic and other openings on the edge of the phone. The opening on back of the phone allows you to use the camera and flash without obstruction and allows easy access to the heart rate sensor. The only negative I have found thus far is the audio jack opening on bottom of the phone near the opening for the USB charger connection may interfere with some larger stereo mini plugs. Most stereo mini plugs will fit without a problem however. Also the openings for the USB port and stereo mini jack don't have flaps over them. Some people mentioned this but for me that extra flap would be annoying to have to open every time I charged the phone. Screen protectors: The case does stretch over the screen about 1mm all the way around so a screen protector that goes edge to edge will not work with this case. Finding a good screen protector for the S7 (and S8) is entirely another issue as it is very hard to find a screen protector for this phone that works well due to the fact the screen is not flat and tapers off towards the edges. I have tried 3 different ones thus far and they were all terrible. Glass screen protectors are pretty much out for this phone as the screen is not flat. I am currently trying a screen protector made by Armorsuit. It is case friendly and fits well as it does not go completely to the edges of the screen, it is allows for a 1.5mm space around the screen left uncovered by the protector. I will rate that protector separately. As far as protection is concerned; I am someone who is usually very careful with their phone and try not to drop it. I did drop my Galaxy S5 phone a couple of times on my driveway while it had the version of this Spigen case for that model installed and it completely protected the phone from getting damaged. The only damage was a couple of scuffs on the case. I know any case will not prevent all possible damage, I don't see this case protecting the phone if you drive over it with a car or if someone throws it forcefully onto the street, but it will protect most common mishaps.

Above-average protection, but just not thick enough to handle S7's heat
By Justin on Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2016
The build of this case was very sturdy. I dropped this phone hundreds of times and my phone is still in great condition. Rarely do I walk with my phone in my hand, but when I do, I always have peace of mind. The lip of the case was raised slightly to prevent the screen from cracking which was a nice feature. All of the cut outs weree precise and never obstructed the camera, speakers, microphone or charging port. However, there was a HUGE downside to this case. Considering this was my second case, I was looking for this case to uphold its Tough Armour name and it failed to do so. The armour was sturdy, but not as thick as I wanted it to be. Consequently, when moderate to heavy usage occurred, this case did a poor job of handling heat. I can remember countless times having to set the phone down and use a stylus pen because the phone was so hot (despite the phone being in the case). I resorted to another case a sibling provided since this case could not get the job done. Sure, I could have decreased my usage, but even at moderate use, who truly wants to do that? If you're looking for above-average protection and don't mind your palm remaining hot after holding the phone for a while, then this is the right choice for you. However, if you are looking for a case with more girth and heat suprression, then I would look elsewhere.
