Love this thing!

I won this free at work from a sales contest and was going to sell it at first but then changed my mind and glad I did! It's replacing my previous Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 that was acting up and this blows that clean out the water! Now I'm not a big social media person or e-reader so I use this mostly to watch movies and listen to music. Napster/rhapsody works great on here except for some reason the song titles don't appear on my car's LED when connected via bluetooth and I had no issues with that with the Tab 2. The video resolution is amazing, I either download movies or use the DirecTV app looks great either way. I would strongly recommend downloading another video media player like VLC instead of the default media player which lacks a lot of things like turning CC off or easy to use rewind/ffw buttons (the VLC app works really really cool on here you can use your finger to swipe in the middle of the picture to adjust volume or rewind and it's a free download). Highly recommend!

Zero quality control
By Jenna Cassidy on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2018
Just got my refurbished Fire tablet, and I have no idea how it could have passed any "inspection". It froze immediately when I try to open the SETTINGS app (not exactly a high working memory drain); I can't change wifi connections. My business partner tried it and had the same experience, and was dismayed: "are they serious?" The "browser" cannot load the only website I cared about navigating to (canva.com) - I get an error loading the main page. I tried "registering" the Fire to my Amazon account (it KEPT asking) and got an "there was an error registering your Fire: please contact Amazon customer support". This is literally a nonfunctional device, and to echo other reviewers, who I wish I'd listened to, I can't believe it passed any kind of quality control much less "refurbishment". UPDATE: I spoke with Customer Support and the Kindle department, who took me through doing a full factory reset because "according to their records the device had not been factory reset. It was only de-registered from the previous account." What in the world - they sent out a device without even resetting it?! Anyway, doing the factory reset resolved a handful of the problems like the registration issue (leading me to believe the device indeed had not been factory reset) but it almost immediately started having the glitch problems again. Could not connect securely to the internet even on my dedicated personal hotspot; could not access the App Store; slow to open even the simplest of apps; etc. In the end, I am returning the device for a full refund (thanks) but what a waste of time and energy! No offer of a prime credit or SOMETHING to say "sorry for the wicked inconvenience that we sent out a totally defective device that wouldn't have passed a 10-year-old's quality standards, much less a professional company." BTW - I am doing a second factory reset before sending it back to Amazon, so that my personal information isn't comprised on the off chance they choose to send it out to another customer without doing a factory reset. :(
