Many of the negative remarks on this item are based on the application that manages which is not the fault of the device itself. The others refer to the constant communications issues between the speaker and the device it's connected to. Let me tell you why everyone else is having issues. So, for those that don't like the app, the latest version works really well (version 3.2.19). Although you need the app for initial setup, you don't need it to manage the speakers in Wi-Fi mode. My Samsung UN60J6200 60-inch Smart TV (2015 Model) has the capability to manage the speakers via Wi-Fi through Menu->Sound. I have two SamSung Radiant360 R1 Speakers and one R3 Speaker connected to my TV (Via Wi-Fi) in a 3.1 Surround Sound configuration (can be configured in 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, or 5.1 surround sound). The setup/management of the speakers has a little bit of a learning curve, but now I can re-configure any of my speakers in 5 mins flat. My down stairs network (where the speakers and TV reside) was running off of a Securifi Almond 2015 Model Router. At first, everything was operating smoothly. However, after some time, I started to experience drop offs as well as various other issues with the speakers. After doing some investigating, I noticed my wireless network was saturated with devices and operating on a common channel. Furthermore, I noticed several other devices in my house were omitting a 2.4GHz signal, causing saturation/degradation of my Wi-Fi signal. To rectify, I decided to purchase the Securitfi Almond + Router. If you haven't guessed by now, I love their products and chose this one specifically for it's dual-band capabilities. I have my Radiant 360 speakers and TV operating off of the 5 GHz channel. Since upgrading and splitting my network (months ago), I have yet to have an issue with these speakers. They sound great, look great, and I would recommend them to anyone not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on Sonos speakers. I purchased the R1s from SAMS club for $80 and the R3 from Amazon for $120 which is still cheaper than purchasing one Sonos Play:3 speaker. The R3 speakers are great for front speakers while the R1s are built more for surround sound/rear speakers. If you have the room, I suggest using a R5 for the rear. Just remember, a Wi-Fi speaker is only as good as the network it's connected to.As far as the multi-room link capability...I like it. I purchased another R1 and placed in on the other side of the house so my wife can hear the football game while she folds laundry. Be prepared, you may have to adjust to offset any potential latency in the connection. Anyways, I highly suggest these speakers.

update: junk

Update on new app:So I guess by putting lipstick on a pig, Samsung thought they could make it pretty. All Samsung did was try and make the app more hip with a new look but not more functional. I'm guessing the the 4-5 star reviews are from people that have one speaker. The whole purpose for this setup is "multi room" speakers driven by an app that is a complete failure. I have 5 speakers and sound bar. Getting a child to eat their vegetables is easier than using this app.Pros/cons of the appPROS: noneCONS:-Drops speakers at random-Just ungroups speakers and stops playing all together-Won't stay linked together for surround sound-doesn't actually fully support music apps such as Amazon music-does not always pick up all speakers-You have to load speakers and music every time you open the app (waiting 10 seconds every time you want to change volume or song)-list goes on and onThe old app actually works better than the new (which is hard to believe). Sometimes the new app sits in an infinite loop trying to group or ungroup speakers leaving the speakers unlistenable until it figures out what it wants to do (by that time I give up). Please people, listen to the reviews. Steer clear of this system. Stick with a proven company like Sonos or someone that actually wants to make their customers happy.I have 5 of these in my house with the Samsung 8.1 soundbar. These things sound great. The application can be a little bit of a pain sometimes but i think samsung is working on that. Great alternative to the more expensive SONOS.Update: I have had these speakers for over 8 months now. I have been through four renditions of the Samsung multi room app. It is terrible. Since you need this app for the speakers to work, it pretty much deems these speakers unusable. The app has to reload all speakers everytime it is open. Most of the time it doesn't load all of the speakers and sometimes it doesn't load any of them. It will drop speakers at random (frustrating/embarrassing). When an update comes out it doesn't add any new "features", it just has bug fixes that cause 5 more bugs. You can not control the volume or song selection from the phone home screen; you have to open the dreaded app to adjust anything. I'm guessing Samsung has interns working on this app. While I'm glad someone is learning application development, I'm not happy customers are spend a butt load of money on a system that can't work without a more intuitive app. Samsung really needs to step up here and fix this app. Until then - I can't recommend it. Save your money or go with SONOS
