Good budget webcam, only has 30 FPS, good for every day use.

This is an okay web cam if you are on a budget. The picture is pretty clear and it works for either a MAC or PC. I have been wanting to get a webcam for my mac mini so I can use facetime and this does the job for what I need it to. If you are looking for a camera that you want to stream say pokemon cards this is not the best for that as it only gives you about 30 FPS which is a bit choppy for card games in my opinion. It has a hard time seeing the details on the actual card even when you hold it stable. That being said, if you are trying to get a better replacement for your mac pro or something then you actually get an adapter for type C because macbooks have no USB A port. I tried it with the adapter adapter and noted that you are able to use the camera with a type C adapter. I was able to plug this into my desktop and macpro. There is no driver installation required on either operating system which is nice. It pretty much auto detects and starts working in less than a minute. I just tried it with windows 10 and 11. The camera works just for fine with all these operating system. The overall camera design look is nice although the black plastic layer you need to remove was actually really tough to come off. It has a pretty generic look compared to many other cameras. There is a cover that you can easily slide close and open from the top. So it is something that gives you that privacy. You could just turn the camera around as well as needed. There is no cover for the microphone. There is a stand you can use if you do not want to put this on top of your monitor. The picture quality is not bad. I would compare this picture quality is just a bit better than a laptop onboard camera. I would say it runs pretty well for facetime and zoom calls. It is not something I would use for conference rooms. Because it does try to focus on your face, it actually will have a hard time adjusting to smaller details. The next thing about this is that the microphone is pretty sensitive so you will need to adjust that before trying your first call. Again there is no issues with the device drivers. It is essentially a plug in play. This webcam can be mounted to the top of your monitor or television depending on which screen you are using. It is fairly secure and easy to adjust although make sure you have enough slack when mounting the webcam. If you happen to be pulling on the cable it is easy to move the camera. The cable length is long enough to reach from my computer monitor to my desktop and still has some slack left. One thing to note is that the device is that the device can be scratched up easily. The picture quality is 1080 p and transmitting quality is going to be dependent on your internet speed and again it only has 30 FPS. Honestly for the price you are paying for this camera, it is pretty decent quality but it is not the best. It does auto focus so you do not have to do that, nor is there a way to manually focus on the camera itself. The microphone sound again is pretty clear but be sure to adjust it accordingly as you may actually appear louder to someone else. The flexible stand is a nice attachment. Overall I think this camera is great for what you need it to do. It does a good job for me during facetime and work meetings (not conference rooms though). The microphone picks up my voice pretty well with very little background noise. I do like the fact that the camera cover is built in and can easily be opened or closed with the tab on top.

Terrible for sitting on a monitor.
By A. Hubbard on Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2025
It seems to be an alright camera, especially for the price. My biggest issue, and the reason I gave it a lower rating, is how it is supposed to stay on the monitor. There is no locking mechanism. It is relying solely on the rubber of the bottom part and the lip, to hold on via tension, in a way. Except there is no real tension, so it's just by grip. So any movement, ever so slight, can send this thing tumbling. There is a spot on the bottom to screw it into a tripod, if you have it, but I imagine that's less common than putting it on the top of your monitor. The autofocus seems alright. I can't speak to sound as I use my microphone for it. So if you HAVE a tripod already, then this might be a nice budget buy. If you DON'T have a tripod, I'd go somewhere else.

A Good and relatively Inexpensive Webcam for Basic Online Needs

So, the Ausdom AW33 is definitely not high-end. That said, considering name brand webcams are going for silly prices at the moment because of demand and borderline gouging, you can't go wrong with this little webcam. Pros: 1.) The picture is pretty good. So for conference meetings you will look way better than using your built-in camera. The color reproduction is fairly accurate and the picture while a touch grainy, seems to settle down as long as you don't move too much. 2.) It is small and the clamp works just fine on monitors. 3.) It is plug and play as advertised. The cord is long enough..like close to 6'. Cons: The mic seems to pick up my voice reasonable well, but the sound comes back a little muffled. I will try to fiddle to improve that and edit this review if successful.
Very good economy webcam

The build quality is very good. I installed the camera (just plugged in the USB cord!) and used the Windows 11 built in camera app. This webcam's picture quality is good, and the field of view is adequate for my needs (Zoom/Meets sessions). I can recommend this camera.
A really nice alternative to unavailable webcams

After waiting six months for a different product, I decided to buy this Ausdom AF640 webcam. I plugged it into a USB port on my Windows 10 computer and it worked immediately, showing an excellent image in the Windows 'camera' app. As other reviewers have noted, its image is more of a wide-angle view than similar webcams, but not unacceptably so; I saw no noticeable optical distortion like the 'fisheye' effect seen on some webcams. Its color reproduction of my face was natural, which is why I gave five stars for "warmth". Next, I tried the Ausdom webcam live on Zoom. Surprise! Zoom automatically clipped a little of its wider view, so the online result showed more of my face and less of my surroundings. I got fewer HD pixels than I was sending to Zoom, but the result was visually what I wanted. And Ausdom's microphone got my voice just fine on Zoom's record-playback audio test. This webcam's mechanical mounting is nicer than many, with a ball joint that allows left-right adjustment as well as up and down. It even comes with an adhesive-mountable privacy shutter that was designed for it; I attached it in a moment and I'm going to keep it on. Nice job, Ausdom! I recommend this bird-in-the-hand product if you're still waiting for some other bird that's stuck in the bush. The only thing this webcam lacks is the extra software that comes with some other webcams, which you don't need for Zoom. I want to add that I have received nothing, nor will I receive anything, for this review.

This webcam has been perfect for my son to use with his Xbox one. He uses it to video chat with friends and to play games. It is adjustable and quite compact. It produces a bright, clear video. It's been a great addition, as during his time at home he has been able to keep "face to face"contact with his friends. It's easy to set up also.

The camera arrived ahead of schedule despite other cameras being unobtainable during this time of worldwide social distancing. It was easy to install on Windows 10 – doesn’t need any special software like it does for earlier versions of Windows. Truly plug and play. The flexible camera holding device was very versatile, allowing desktop standing or clipping to top of monitor. Good surface grip. Rotation or up/down aiming is easy. Focus is manual, but you’ll be using it at the same distance every time, so only needs initial focus adjustment. Sharp picture. Tried it on both desktop and laptop computers. The small size makes it easy to carry or stow. Depending on lighting, usually shows some flicker associated with the frame rate. Distracting in lower light, but you should be using better face lighting anyway. The microphone was substandard. Captured sound easily, but it sounded slightly muffled – more so than the microphone in my laptop. Mild echo. Didn’t test it with background noise to see how much was due to noise cancellation feature. If you have your own microphone or headset/phone combo, these factors won’t matter. If you are primarily just visualizing a meeting, no problem. If you are the primary speaker or if the meeting is one on one, then the mike quality is distracting.

Used for school. Liked the manual focus. You know I had used another webcam with auto focus but that make my students dizzy when I move my position or turn around to find books, the webcam change the focus always and always. So this time I have to purchase a new one with manual focus that make the pic smooth. I see this AUSDOM AW165 webcam that meets my needs. The delivery is sooooo fast and picture quality is really great. At the first time use, I found there's no CDs with software to install just a webcam and instruction in the package. Then I contact the seller to ask how to install the webcam. You know the seller reply to me very soon:) saying that is plug&play without installing any software. Great! It really works:):):):)At the beginning, the picture is fussy but it changes to great image after adjusting the focus manually. I think the image is beyond 1080P like 2K or 4K else much better. Use it for a few days there's no need for me to adjust the focus again. Really amazing. I recommend this seller and AUSDOM AW615 webcam.

Planning to use this on my Mac for online video calls but have only done a couple of test calls so far, one with Google Meet and one with Zoom. Both test calls were fine. Audio is apparently a bit low on the microphone. When I adjust it in the System Preferences the volume goes up but then it will go back down by itself and settle at around 67%. After playing with it a bit I suspect is a "feature" of the noise cancellation. I think it's trying to adjust volume to keep out the background noise but it's lowering my volume at the same time. My daughter was able to raise the speaker volume on her side so in the end it was fine. Video is good but with a REALLY wide view compared to the camera it's replacing. It's roughly 25" from my nose to the camera and when I hold my arms out I can see well past the elbows on both sides. It also LOOKS like I'm farther away. Which, when I compare side-by-side isn't a bad thing as the other camera had a lot of unflattering detail. I suspect it's all still there if I were to lean in and get closer to this camera. Build is fine. It's manual zoom but it gets me and the white board that's about 2 ft behind me so don't think I'll be adjusting it much. I wish the mount were a little wider in the back and square rather than rounded. When you adjust the camera angle it's definitely a two handed operation. There's also know light to tell you whether it's powered or on I'll be putting flap of some kind over it. Combined with the rounded mount that may end up being a pain. We'll see. Overall, pretty happy with it, though it's only been a few hours.
Don't be fooled by the privacy cover

While it looked like Ausdom had upgraded their camera with a privacy cover don't be fooled! The Ausdom camera I've been using an earlier model for years and a great USB webcam. Has microphone, auto focus. Good enough clip for top of monitor and works well for most laptops. Especially helpful for those laptops with built in cameras under the screen to where all people can see is you typing. The listing photo though is deceptive. That flip down privacy cover doesn't even fit this camera. Not designed for it. No instructions for it. Just sticks on with tape and not integral to the camera. It also covers up a sensor on the camera too which makes the cover useless as the frame is in the way of the sensor.
