A True Confidence-Booster for Every Driver!
By R.Crosslin on Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2025
The NOCO Boost GB40 is a compact powerhouse that delivers big performance. At just about 2.5 lb with a rugged IP65 water‑resistant build, it’s small enough to stow virtually anywhere while packing a hefty 1,000‑amp peak jump capacity—enough to restart up to 20 dead batteries on a single charge Why it’s a 5-star essential: Incredibly Safe & Simple: With spark-proof clamps and reverse-polarity protection, it’s nearly foolproof—even if you hook it up wrong, nothing bad happens Powerful Yet Portable: Despite being tiny, it’s rated to jump a 6.0 L gasoline or 3.0 L diesel engine—and it even brings life back to motorcycles or small engines too Built-In Versatility: It doubles as a USB power bank (2.1 A output), recharges in under three hours, and includes a bright 100‑lumen LED flashlight with SOS/strobe modes—ideal for emergencies Durable & Holds Charge: The rugged casing withstands drops and harsh conditions, and it retains about 70% capacity after a year unused—reliable when you need it most What owners rave about: “Compact and powerful… worked brilliantly on a dead battery…the LED light and power bank make it even more versatile” And Lifewire’s top pick for portable jump starters highlights its compact size, water resistance, and ability to deliver 20 jumps per charge A few caveats: Might struggle with large V8 engines—better suited for cars, small trucks, motorcycles garagejournal.com . Recharge time is longer via standard USB (~3 hours); faster via wall adapter garagejournal.com 🔧 Final Take The NOCO Boost GB40 delivers on its promise: a safe, reliable, and multi-functional jump starter that’s ready when you are. It’s more than just roadside assistance—it’s peace of mind in a palm-sized package. For most drivers, it’s hard to find better value or utility in a portable power solution. Highly recommended!

Good unit but cables are only 23" from clamp tip to clamp tip, not from booster to clamp tip
By consumer on Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2025
I purchased the NOCO GB40 18 months ago and liked it, except it seemed the clamp cables could be potentially short for some situations. I recently wanted another booster to have in my second car. I almost bought a competitor's product which had longer cables, but then saw that the Amazon ad for the GB40 appeared to show it now had longer cables than the previous one I bought. I assumed they had upgraded the product to address some consumer concerns, and to keep up with the competition. After purchasing a new GB40 unit I found it had the same length cables as my original one. I thought I might have gotten an older model, so contacted the company about sending me the longer replacement cables as shown in their ad. I received a very short reply that the cables are 23" from clamp tip to clamp tip and an apology for the confusion. They sent a picture to show actual length (attached). Comparing the clamp length to the cable length in the picture they sent to the picture in the ad (both pictures attached) it seems the ad picture is not accurate. It shows the cables are about twice as long as the clamps (compared to actual where the cables are a little over one clamp length) and the location of the 23" measurement seems to indicate it is from the GB40 connector to the clamp tip (which is actually about 12"). I pointed out this discrepancy in a reply to the company and suggested they change their ad to use the picture they sent me which clearly shows the actual dimensions, but did not receive any additional response. I think the GB40 has good quality, ease of use, and may have more safety features (such as avoiding problems if the cable clamps accidentally connect together) than the competition. Just be aware that the cable length is shorter than their current advertisement shows. I would give it a 5 star rating, but took away one star for the shorter cables, and another star for the misrepresentation in their advertising photo. The short cable length should be adequate for most uses, especially where there is easy access to both battery terminals, or from the positive battery post to a grounding screw on the car frame.
