*****UPDATE!!!!********

****UPDATE***** Top Quality pencils have a new formula and has redesigned the package as well as changing the layout and new colors!! I love the new formula for the lead!! The colors are more vibrant and the new pastels are awesome! The brighter colors are definitely brighter! The color distribution is also better. The old packages had a lot of green. Too much green. Now with the new pastels there is a much better distribution. Previously, I had issues with the leads being crumbly and some were very chalky looking. The new lead formula is really nice. The crumbling issues have been resolved. The only feed back that I have is the pencils still need names and only three. Colors have an issue with being chalky. That is a huge improvement. A few of the lighter yellows are really really light. But I love the new pencils!! In my picture I used rack pencil twice and others a few times more. Please excuse my sloppiness. I did this at night with inadequate lighting. The other thing I love about the new leads is that rwith different pressure you can make the colors as vibrant as you want by using different pressures. They told me they were in the process of continuing to improve the quality of the brand. I can't wait to see more improvement!!! These pencils have several issues. First there are no colors labeled on each pencil. The case is nice, but no real layout. I found purple in one section, then some in the blues and more in the reds and with the pinks as well. Some that I thought were purple were actually pink. Next the leads and the color of the pencil do not always match with what is shown on paper. Next I had to throw out several pencils due to the fact that they just did not show up on the paper. I could not tell that I had colored something other than the indentations on that paper that I had attempted to color. Another issue was the crumbling of the leads. The finer the point the more crumbling of the lead. If you try to blow them off the paper, they do not budge, but if you try to wipe them off they leave color streaks on the paper. I have had to resort to using a fine paint brush to remove these crumbles. I go through colored pencils very frequently (a new pack about every two months) and honestly I will not be buying them again even if they are the only packs that have 72 colors. Just not worth my frustration.

Not quite what I was hoping for

I want to give it a better review but after using these quite a bit for the past few days I just feel they aren't quite worthy of 5 stars. We had been struggling with the cheap Cra-Z-art pencils and had so much frustrations with the lead breaking as we sharpened them. Since we were doing more of the adult coloring books I felt it was worth the extra money for better pencils. They are definitely easier to color with. Much less pressure is needed to color evenly which means much less hand cramping! We've had issues with one of the brown pencils that must have broken lead throughout it. We can't get it sharpened without it breaking off. It's aready down to about a 3 inch pencil and we use a hand sharpener - not electric. My other complaint is the variety of color throughout the set. Even though there are 72 pencils in the set some of them don't seem to have a whole lot of contrast to a similar pencil. Whereas I'd like to have a very dark brown, tan, cream, etc there's mostly 6 pencils that vary in medium brown shades, or medium green, etc. In fact I just dug out the lousy Cra-Z-art pencils just to find the dark brown (cappuccino) that I was searching for. Which leads to my last complaint - the pencils don't have color names on them. I didn't think that would be an issue except that when I put the pencil I'd been using back in the set and later wanted to go back to it for another similar section it's hard to remember which medium brown pencil I had used. All in all they are definitely a better quality than Cra-Z-art. Are they worth the $20? I guess if I had to choose all over again I might look into another brand.
