I Hate Giving Less Than Stellar Reviews But...
By Phroggie on Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2022
...I have to warn you away from this cable. I got this a year ago (summer, 2021) when I upgraded the monitor that I use with my 2012 MacMini. It kinda worked. Sometimes I could boot up like a normal person. Sometimes (40%) I'd get a black screen and I would blindly type in my password and I'd get a picture in a few seconds. And sometimes (5%) I'd get bupkis and then I'd have to use VNC from my laptop to change the resolution in System Preferences and finally I'd get a picture and I could return to the default. It sucked but the 2560x1440 resolution made up for it. And I had no idea if the problem was the monitor, the cable, the Mac or one of the ports and I seem to have a good tolerance to crappy situations. A few days ago, I unplugged the cable to check exactly what kind of a cable it is (with the Mac powered -down) and when I went to power up, nada, goornisht, zip. I finally did some troubleshooting with my girlfriend's DP cable and monitor and whaddyaknow? It immediately came up with the high resolution. So I ordered Cable Matter's cable and it works great. Again, I ordered this in summer, 2021 and in the mean time Amazon may have changed jobbers or they might be using different materials or processes to make them today in summer, 2022 and YMMV.
