Doubted it at first, but wouldn't trade it now that we've installed it!

With several toddler and kindergarten grandkids, we absolutely needed this toilet seat. It looks great, as far as toilet seats go, and was very easy to install. It took less time to install this one as it took to remove the old one. The magnetic latch holding up the kids' seat is great. It is strong enough to trust, but not so strong that the kids can't manage to lower it. It would be nice if it were a slow shutting seat, too, but it isn't heavy enough to hurt even the smallest fingers. The little ones like that they can sit comfortably on a real toilet without worrying about falling. It makes them feel big!

Soft close breaks, surface coating is fragile

Overall, I'm disappointed in this purchase. The surface coating on the main seat (which appears to be paint) is not particularly durable. Normal use with the training seat scratches it through to the underlying wood after several months. Also, rubbing alcohol actually dissolves the seat's white paint enough to rub it off with a towel. The main seat and lid are definitely constructed solidly. The training seat is fine, but it's plastic is quite soft and has been scuffed up during normal use, which really shouldn't happen. (Neither of my kids appear to have particularly abrasive back sides...) Finally, the soft close mechanism for the seat is controlled by one hinge, while the other hinge handles it for the lid. The one for the lid broke after a year or so, and a very viscous grease came out of it which was difficult to get off without a solvent, leading me to try rubbing alcohol, and discovering the paint issue. It's now about 5 years old, and for almost 4 I've had a miserable looking partially broken seat. It's time to replace it, and I won't be buying this again.
