Amazing drone!
By Sadie Fluxe on Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2018
I absolutely love this thing! It handles really well, just lacking in stability due to it's extremely low weight, but is manageable. It gets pushed around a lot in even mild winds, but you can control it easily with a little practice. This is my first quadcopter and it's incredibly easy to learn how to fly. If you've ever played a console game using a controller with two joysticks, you'll learn fast. Only downside is waiting ~90 minutes between flights, so buy extra batteries with your drone so you don't have to suffer like I am! I just want to fly this thing all damn day; it's the most fun I've ever had with any RC toy. It's a lot of fun to toss in the air and kick up the throttle and watch it correct itself. Granted I've yet to crash into anything with any real force, this thing takes crashes very well. The bumpers help protect the blades very nicely. I got this thing stuck in a tree in my backyard this morning and took hours to get it out, but it worked just fine after I recharged the battery. The camera quality isn't bad for the price and it's a ton of fun to watch the videos of your neighborhood from 100+ feet in the air (and I've got ocean view, which is a nice bonus), as long as it doesn't start freezing the video feed more frequently within 10 uses like mine did. At first, the video would stutter at times, but only occasionally and remained smooth for the most part. Now it does it very frequently and for seconds at a time. But that's only if yours ends up like mine, which from the videos of this model that I've seen, I doubt you will have the same (bad) luck as me. Do not use the FPV alone to fly the drone! It lags, even at peak quality, and can lead to crashes, so only use it lightly for orienting the camera for pictures and video. Use line-of-sight for regular flight. Other than the camera, this is an amazing drone. Replacement parts are cheap for a really nice sized part replacement kit, so I'm going to buy one of those soon just in case anything does happen. Will probably be buying another one for my wife in the likely case she enjoys mine. I called Amazon to ask about the camera issue, not even asking for a replacement or refund or anything, and the rep just gave me a refund for the whole quadcopter. So despite the camera, that's why I'm giving this thing 5 stars instead of 4, and why I will likely be buying another one of these quadcopters or something different.

Affordable first flier.
By Chris Hinds on Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2016
I bought this to try and take some pictures of campsites and places that we go. I have never flown anything like this before. Mine arrived and was promptly put in our camper, as we were headed to Baja for two weeks. Once we were on our trip, I opened the package and assembled it. There was a faint "rattle" of a small loose part inside, but I didn't worry at first. Unfortunately, I could not get the radio to bind to the flier. it would only fast flash all lights like the battery was low. (I tried everything I could think of to get it to work, and verified that the battery voltage was indeed good. Eventually in handling it, a small black piece of wire fell out. I decided that it must have been improperly soldered, so I took the top off the flier. Inspecting the board revealed a contact labeled "ANT" with some solder, and remnants of a wire protruding. I figured the antenna wire had broken off, so I stripped a small section and managed to re-solder it with my micro-torch and some solder that I happened to have along. (Remember, I'm in Baja... No internet, no soldering iron, etc.) Perfection! It immediately bonded like it's supposed to, and I was able to get it out and start learning to fly. It's not that hard, it just takes some practice. After three or four flights, I can mostly make it do what I want, and now I'm working on the FPV useage to get some video and pictures. Initially the Syma app didn't work, and I installed another, but I think I wasn't binding it via bluetooth correctly. I have since re-installed the Syma app and I'm sure it'll work. For the price, this is a great product!! I've set it down pretty hard a few times now, with no damage yet. I'm about to switch the control response to high and re-learn flying. On low, even a gentle breeze can carry it off. It just won't move fast enough to keep up, but it is very easy to fly on calm days on low. Hopefully the broken antenna wire in my was a complete fluke, but I was able to fix it on my own, since returning it wasn't an option at the time. 6/26/16 update: Well, I'm getting better at flying, but the FPV is useless for actually flying the thing... First, Syma's FPV app doesn't work on my phone, and from the comments on google, it doesn't work on most phones for one reason or another... On my android phone, the wifi connects well, but the SYMA app keeps defaulting to the START screen when I press START. I found another app that looks VERY similar, and it seems to work, but there is about a two second delay, which means you can take pictures, but you can't really fly the thing because you're always 2 seconds behind what it's actually doing. As for pictures, this one has the camera out of focus, which seems to be common. I found a tutorial on how to disassemble and focus it, but I haven't taken that step yet. The picture is crystal clear at about 2' away, but anything farther is fairly blurry. Doesn't seem like I should have to disassemble the camera and fix this... Focus is focus, and it's fairly obvious this one was out when it was "set" at the factory. I'm revoking another star... Such a sweet toy, but the lack of quality control and support for the apps just kills it. :(
