Bought primarily for baking... it's a nice scale, adequate surface to hold a bowl while adding ingredients, built pretty well and works good enough for most measurements. My only complaint is that it's not very accurate using grams as units when the stuff being weighed is less than about 15g, especially if you try to sneak up on a measurement... you can tare out a small, light container but if all it weighs is a couple grams itself it might not register. Then, as you slowly try to add say 4 grams of an ingredient it might not show the weight until you've added more than your 4g's and then it may only show 2 or 3, possibly the 4, but it's not consistent. Consequently I use a smaller capacity (600 grams) lab scale when I need those small measurements. This scale does great for stuff up to several pounds (as much as I've tried, comparing its results with those from a couple other scales) and is pretty accurate at those times, especially if weighing in ounces or another unit of measure. For the price, though, it's a pretty decent unit, IMHO.
