SanDisk Ultra 64GB Micro SDXC Class 10 Card with Adapter
By Cory Haggard on Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2015
I recently purchased this micro SD card for use in my Sony Xperia Z3v android smartphone. Since my ever-growing music and photo library is much larger than the 32GB of storage that my phone came with, I needed to purchase an SD card that suited my needs. Storage space, price, speed, and quality were important factors to me when looking for such a card. Storage Space: I have 30-40 GB of music that I would like to have on me at all times. Fortunately, this SD card offered more than enough storage space for my music and photo library as well as giving me the comfort of knowing I will not run out of space on my phone anytime soon. There is also a 128GB option of the same card for those those who need it. These cards are truly for people who have large libraries of files they’d like to carry in a convenient manner. Price: It is important for me to say that I bought this card while it was on sale for $19.99 instead of the market price of $59.99. At the time of me writing this review, the same card was on sale for $24.99. Price was very important to me and was one of the factors that made up my mind on this purchase. I had been keeping an eye on micro SD cards from Sony, Samsung, Kingston, and SanDisk. In the end, SanDisk offered the best deal for my money and I would recommend waiting for great deals and sales like I did. Speed: The speed of the data transfer rates is something that I am always looking at when purchasing memory. Luckily, this card performs quite well with up to 80mb/s transfer rates, meaning playback has excellent quality and doesn’t stutter Copying files to the card is also easy and doesn’t take as long as other similarly priced SD cards. Quality: Quality ties in with the speed of the card because a high quality card should be fast. Thankfully, this card has exceptionally good quality and performs very well for my needs. None of my files have gotten corrupted, either. As far as the physical quality goes, there’s not much you can do to screw up tiny small plastic rectangle, so physical quality will be very similar to all cards across the board. I am very pleased with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality, inexpensive SD card.

This card is a new release and not currently available on Amazon. It is different from the gray-colored Pro card **** old model tested, not the current U3 model ***** old model tested Fastest Sequential Read: All tested cards were able to accomplish > 90MB/s, with the Lexar 1000x able to take advantage of UHS-II speed when using the bundled USB reader and leading the pack Fastest Sequential Write: Sandisk Extreme Pro, Samsung Pro+, Transcend Ultimate 633x Fastest Random Read: Kingston 90R/80W. Fastest Random Write: Samsung Pro+ Best overall: Samsung Pro+ and Sandisk Extreme Pro Other observations: Performance and price are not proportional when it comes to selecting a microSD card. Some of the worst performing cards in this review also happen to be the most expensive. Not all 633x cards are created equal. The two cards reviewed from Lexar and Transcend are both marked as 633x but vary in performance greatly. 4k video recording using action cams and drone cameras have a typical bitrate of 60mbps or 100mbps, corresponding to 7.5MB/s to 12.5MB/s. All cards in this review should theoretically be able to handle this usage easily. Using microsd card as supplemental phone storage potentially could benefit from a faster card, Best Looking Card (if it matters): Sandisk Extreme Pro: Red/Gold with white print Lexar 1000x: White/Gold with Black/White print Samsung Pro+: White/Black with a red stripe and Black/White print PNY Turbo: Lime Green/Black with Black/White print Update 9/14/2015: Added additional cards to the list.
