Not perfect but I do love it.

I am giving the Oasis five stars due to Amazon's excellent customer support otherwise I would give the Kindle Oasis four stars based on the device itself. I purchased the 3G version with the charging adapter (For the price it should be included) and the three year warranty. Needless to say this was not inexpensive so I was disappointed when my first Oasis was defective straight out of the box. The screen froze up as I tried to enter my wi-fi password. I had to power down then back up in order to enter my password. Not a good start but I dismissed it as a glitch. The problems really started when I tried to read on my new Kindle later that night. The touchscreen was all over the place. The screen was flashing black then white, the menu kept popping up, book marks creating themselves, text was highlighting itself and the Kindle would go to the homepage by itself. It made reading rather frustrating. I charged it overnight and tried all of the suggestions I found online. I did multiple device resets and countless restarts but no joy. I gave up and called customer support who were brilliant. I explained what was happening and they issued a replacement straight away without trying to walk me through any "fixes". The new one arrived the next business day. It was just the Oasis and charging cable in a sealed brown box. The Oasis itself was sealed in the same type of plastic pouch that my original one was in. If it is a refurb I cannot tell as it looks perfect. I literally took a magnifying glass and inspected the entire Oasis. There is not a mark or dent on it. The only thing I did find was be tiny black dot under the screen that I cannot see without the magnifying glass. I paid a lot of money for this but I will overlook this one flaw the I cannot see. Nothing is perfect in life. The new Oasis works flawlessly. The screen lightning is even and the battery is better. I love the physical page turn buttons and the thin lightweight design. Reading is a pleasure in bed with the Oasis. I use it without the cover while reading and place it back in the cover to charge when I go to sleep. I miss the auto auto brightness setting that is on my Voyage but I don't mind adjusting it myself. All in all I do love the Kindle Oasis and would recommend it under certain circumstances. If you have some extra money to spend buy this! If you are saving up for an Oasis or you are not going to buy something else so that you can purchase an Oasis you might be happier purchasing a Voyage. The Voyage is a premium e-reader that has a feature or two that the Oasis dose not.

This was a replacement of my original Oasis that had many problems. This one is no better. Very short battery life, 2 weeks max with light reading. So disappointed. The charging cover is getting wonky, it'll probably fall apart soon, it's not real leather or maybe tissue paper thin leather over cardboard. I like to read in bed with page control on left side & it's really hard to close the cover from that angle. It is lighter than any of my other devices (iPhone, iPad) so is pretty comfortable for reading. I think Amazon needs to redesign the kindle top to bottom & ask us users what we love & dislike about the Kindles so they can get it right for more people. It's a great concept, just needs refinement.
