Worth The Wait
By Shuckey on Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2015
I am a huge Fallout fan from back in the day. I loved Interplays games and the look of them. With each game Bethesda has improved upon the previous except for possible New Vegas. I went back to play Fallout 3 prior to receiving Fallout 4. So that I could really see the changes and improvements they have made. In 7 years a lot has changed but some things I dislike in Fallout 4.The game looks amazing with vibrant colors which the muted tones of the previous game helped set the tone I think that Fallout 4’s vibrant colors make it seem more immersive and make the world seem more alive. The controls are amazing and I bought the Pip Boy Edition which is awesome although I only used in the first day to use companion app for the game. I have my Galaxy tab next to me for Companion Apps because I just like the bigger screen. I like how all the inventory and options are set up in Fallout 4. I had to adjust the Y sensitivity as it was just too fast for my taste out of the box.I played for 8 hours straight the first day and unlike previous Fallout games only ran into a few bugs and they were just dead bodies bouncing or getting stuck. Nothing that has affected gameplay so far like New Vegas had. But I still am in the habit of saving a lot just in case. Some of the things that I wish were better explained the first time you are able to them like Speech Challenges. In previous games there was an option for Speech with a % of success. Fallout 4 has a color coded system that they did not explain very well. Maybe it’s just something I need to get adjusted to but I did like % so I could gauge better if I should try or not.Another thing that I also found different was when you Level Up. I wish that also was better explained or an option to demonstrate how to use your points. At face value I thought I needed to spend 1 point in a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. category prior to spending on a Perk. When you look at Tier 1 perks it says you need Per 1 to purchase. When you Level up you have the ability to either spend points increasing your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats or by purchasing Perks. But again I think it’s just getting use to it.I love how now using the V.A.T.S. does not completely stop time and makes you have to think faster and makes it more interactive.Overall putting almost 28 hours in 3 days playing this game is amazing. There is so many things to do and to see that it is almost overwhelming. One Mini Spoiler that everyone will find out hopefully not how I did but Power Armor needs Fusion Cells to run and they do not last long so Park It at the garage when you do not need it for big enemies or bosses. Because if the suit runs out of power you have to leave it where it dies and you can not fast travel back once you get another cell. So make sure you park it or have plenty of cells to replace them before venturing out long distances with it.This game was defiantly worth the 7 year wait for a proper sequel.

AMAZING GAME!!!!! Pip-Boy Edition is a solid pass.
By R. Wojciechowski on Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2015
The game itself is amazing and while it is buggy, I would give it a 5/5 just from entertainment value. This 3 star review is just for the pip-boy edition.I was going crazy months ago when they announced Fallout 4 trying to reserve my pip-boy edition. I was a bit obsessed with it, but it did not live up to the hype at all. Again, I cannot stress this enough, I LOVE the game, but this dollar store quality pip-boy was just not worth buying. The Good:It looks pretty cool on the shelf I guess, I mean the lunchbox and bobblehead from the Fallout 3 CE outshine it (the Fallout 3 CE also came with a nice art book and making of DVD) but it does look nice on the shelf. The inserts are fun, it has an instruction book as if the device were real, and does get you hyped for using it, even if you quickly realize the quality of it and get let down. The Indifferent:The metal game case is cool I guess, but I almost wish they would just give the regular case and focus more on the quality of the pip-boy.The Bad:Size - Fits most hands does not fit me well. I got this with hopes i can play the game with it, nope. This thing is massive, yet not massive enough to fit my hands.Mounting Size - The device was not able to house my iphone 5s with its very slim and small case on it. So i would have to go through the trouble of removing the case every time I would want to use the device as intended.... Pass....Quality - Seriously this thing has the quality of some cheap dollar store toys. The cheap plastic is loose fitting in most attachment joints. All buttons/switches/whatever do nothing besides an LED that lights up (not sure what I was expecting). Attaching the device, the padding to fit around the arm is the cheapest part, it is not even attached to the device other than a snug fit and the loosely attached tether. Padding is beaten up already, I know it will be unseen when wearing/on a shelf, but this thing looks like it is falling apart with poorly executed voids cut into it for the tether."Limited Quality" - I went crazy refreshing my amazon page over and over until it was available for pre-order. Bethesda introduced this as a very short run with no option to get more. This created a desire for this item and thus attached expectations that were never met for me.The Box - The stupid, stupid stupid stupid STUPID box. Why would they ever waste materials on creating a very large vault tech box that is designed specifically to hold the device... Am I supposed to display the box? It does not have the shelf appeal the pip-boy does with its stand. Am I supposed to display the device on top of the box? maybe, but this combination is very tall, limiting shelf space. Am I supposed to use it as a backdrop for the device on the shelf? This thing is very large! Am I supposed to use it for something else? It has padding in it to specifically house the pip-boy/game/inserts and is glued onto the box, this can be removed but the box is bare otherwise, and has a cheap latching system. Am I supposed to care about the box? Hey its in the game, you should love it! No, this stupid box has the same cheap quality as the pip-boy, but lacks all the appeal and functionality. Whatever, this stupid box may just get thrown out for me.Overall:Fallout 4 is a great game, I cannot recommend it enough, go pick up the regular edition. Just pass on the pip-boy edition, you are really not missing anything. For the extra $60, the quality is just not there. (On a side note, my heart goes out to those who had to buy scalped pip-boy editions on eBay for $200-$300 because Bethesda wanted a scarce market...I love Bethesda but that was a really dumb decision and them saying there is no way to make more was BS.) Just use the phone app solo, and if you want a nice shelf piece, go buy some of the bobbleheads or vinyl figures!
