Best part of my morning!
By Brandon O. on Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2015
This is hands down the best iced coffee that I ever had. I first learned about "cold brew" coffee from tasting it at a local starbucks. Needless to say, I was impressed, and researched on how I could make my own batch of cold brew coffee. I did some research online on different cold brew systems and decided to give this one a try based on previous customer ratings and reviews. Unfortunately, when I received it in the mail, the handle had a small crack in it. I contacted customer service and they immediately shipped me a new system free of charge. I was very impressed by their customer service. Finally, I got my new cold brew system up and running and I am very satisfied with it. Listed below are a few highlights about the cold brew coffee maker: - Easy to use. There is a handout included as well as a number of youtube videos showing how to setup the cold brew coffee maker. - Smooth taste. It takes 12-24 hours in the fridge to "marinate" but it is worth it. According to the box, it says the coffee brewer system makes your coffee, 65% less acidic. Now I'm not a scientist or anything but i can definitely taste the difference and it is a much more refreshing and cleaner tasting coffee. - Easy to disassemble and clean. It is dishwasher safe. However, I feel safer hand-washing it. - Variety. You can make a bunch of different drinks and can even use it to make tea. - Customer service. As described above I am most impressed with the customer service and how quickly they responded to my questions and concerns. I would definitely recommend buying this product if you are looking to enhance your coffee experience. You are getting the most "bang for your buck" with this cold brew coffee maker.

TLDR: Disappointing, missing piece, not the worst choice

I should preface this review by saying that I originally purchased this same pitcher on Kohl’s for 35 dollars and I loved everything about it. It was a pretty nice upgrade from the cheap plastic one I had been using. Unfortunately, my happiness was shattered (pun intended) when my sister knocked it off my kitchen counter and broke it. I was unable to find the pitcher at Kohl’s when I tried to replace it. This is what led me to purchasing this pitcher on Amazon. I was so excited when I found the exact same pitcher for five dollars cheaper here after almost losing hope that I would be able to replace my broken one. Sadly, this excitement was short lived once the package arrived at my door. There are a few things that I found to be disappointing about this pitcher. The first being that it came with a piece missing. The bottom of the filter (picture included) was missing. This means that if I hadn’t had an extra filter from my original pitcher I would have been entirely unable to use this product. The next thing that bothered me is that the rubber grip on the bottom does not lay flat causing the pitcher to be wobbly when sitting on my kitchen counter. Lastly, I noticed that the pitcher was of poorer quality overall. The plastic lid and glass container were both noticeably lighter in weight and thinner than the original. I have no idea how such an inconsistency in manufacturing could occur, but I was disappointed to say the least. Overall, this product isn’t bad. I like how secure the lid is, the removable bottom piece of the filter would normally make for easy cleaning, and it’s a pretty good size. However, the missing filter piece and unstable bottom is enough to warrant a low review in my opinion. This product is really not a bad choice by normal standards, but I would advise you to look around elsewhere before making this particular purchase on Amazon.

This cold brew maker is possibly my best buy of the year

PROS: This cold brew maker is possibly my best buy of the year. It can save money and make better coffee than average coffee shop cold brew, and be relatively low-maintenance, with a good routine. In my case, I spend about $12 on coffee beans per week with this cold brew maker. Translate that to coffee shop term, I'd spent about $17 on coffee per week. So this coffee maker breaks even in two months. What I do to ensure having enough cold brew every day goes like this: 1. Load coarse coffee ground into filter. 2. add cold tap water to fill up the filter. 3. Bang on the plastic top a couple times to help water permeate through coffee ground (essential). 4. repeat step 2 and 3 until the carafe is full. 5. Leave carafe in fridge overnight for 24h. 5. remove cold-brew liquid to a mason jar and clean cold brew maker, so that the next batch will be ready before you finish the current one. I do agree with the review that said this coffee makes relatively weak brew. I try to compensate that by leaving it in the fridge longer.
Makes good coffee, but…

I have two cold-brew coffee makers. This coffee maker makes the most robust cold brew I have had. With my other pitcher, the coffee grounds float to the top of the filter, so it’s weaker. I love the design, and the glass pitcher helps the coffee get cold quicker. The downfall of this pitcher is it leaks grounds. So I have to filter the coffee before I can drink it. It isn't very convenient and slows down my morning routine. Also the top of my pitcher is loose, so sometimes, when pouring the coffee, some will leak down the side.

When I worked for Nordtrom, their coffee shops carried this at the top tier stores selling for full price. I knew one of the buyers/directors for the region and they only buy quality hardware to sell. It’s been some time since then and this is usually available for less on Amazon and it’s well built. Dishwasher safe but I hand clean it, and dishwasher the filter once a month or so instead of the typical hand wash. The seals last for years before they loosen a little bit, it’s not even that much they still work fine. After five 6-7 years mine still seals airtight and works just fine. I use it for cold brew coffee and I stir occasionally during the process. The unit is fabulous for this. If the coffee is finely ground their might be some residual sludge at the very bottom. Medium and coarser grinds are better with this one.

Gift for my mother. It did not hold as much as I thought. Good value, but was not durable.

I like the way the bottom of the filter can detach from the body for easy cleaning.

I bought this in 2015 and it was the best thing I've bought! It's so much cheaper to make your own cold brew than buying it at a cafe. I have used mine religiously for 5 years! It just broke the other day (because I dropped the glass carafe) and I am buying my second one to replace it! It's super easy to use, looks good, and fits in the door of the fridge. I let mine "brew" for 24 hours in the fridge and then transfer the coffee to a mason jar so it stay sealed and fresh for days. It's dishwasher safe and the pitcher is glass.

I can finally make my cold brew coffee. For a tenth of the cost of one at a coffee house. I mean, I get it, it takes a crazy amount of time to sit and brew, plus space in the fridge. There's only so much to go around. But still the mark up is ridiculous. This is a game changer. So much saved money, plus I get exactly what I want. Cold coffee, steeped rather than brewed allowing the coffee to bloom without being reheated and over roasting the bean. (Ever wonder why coffee is so acidic and bitter?) If you enjoy cold coffee/have issues with acid reflux (something I've tried to convince my mother in trying, although she is adamant that cold coffee is the grossest thing since oreos. Sometimes I wonder about her) The only downside is it is so small that it easily fits in my fridge, but I can finish it in two days if I'm pacing myself. I also have to either invest in a lidded pitcher (taking up more room in my fridge) or deal with drinking it all and waiting for more to brew (a 12-24 hour process).
Great design & construction, but falls short in other areas

Bought this as “open-box” from amazon (hopefully all the parts came with it) for $12 I usually make cold brew in a 2Gallon mason jar with reusable strainers - but wanted to try this out. To start it is made very well, easy to clean, and the whole thing forms a seal so you can technically shake it up. And I love the design and look. The parts that lack are that the top o-ring seal seems to have shrunk or dried out? I’ve kept my unit in the fridge for 90% of it’s life - so maybe it shrunk? Anyways once the seal shrinks it can pop-off when you pour so just be careful. The biggest disappointment was the mesh coffee holder. I mainly bought this because I wanted a system where I can put beans in, steep, then pour out coffee without having to remove the beans before hand. Once you get this you realize the mesh coffee holder “clips” into place, and there are gaps around the holder and the lid .... so if you try to pour with beans in it .... they will get into the coffee ... and now you have filter them out. Other than that it’s a sweet design, hopefully they redo it for the future, unless maybe my kit didn’t include a specific part??
