Excellent for portraits in event photography and for objects in advertising photography.

I've wanted to buy this lens for my Canon camera for a long time because many forums describe it as an ideal lens for close-ups, both in low-light (or artificial) and natural light. Indeed, it is. Portraits of people look spectacular. I haven't yet tried it on wider shots of groups of people, but I think that knowing your camera as a work tool will give you optimal results. It's also a good lens for designers and artists because it focuses on the subject and blurs the background in a very natural and artistic way. Before, I had to use Photoshop to blur the background in photos to make them look more professional; now with this lens, the work hours are reduced. Now I'm trying to capture smaller objects, the size of small cars (Hot Wheels), and I'm not sure about the results, but I know that with a little practice on this project with this lens, it will lead me to the photos I want.

focusing system broke within 6 months
By Andre K on Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2021
Bought this camera last year in late August. Decided to take this risk and buy this "international" version that came without warranty. Now I regret it! The focusing system broke after 6 months of occasional use. Never dropped, never mishandled. The lens does not focus at all - both in manual and auto focus. Something broke on the inside as I can hear the lens motors struggling when I mount it and try to take a picture. Unable to manipulate focus manually with the focus ring either. Without warranty it's now a paperweight. The lens was good while it worked. I enjoyed taking photos with it. I wish it wasn't such a dud after just 6 months. I recommend you add $20-$30 and get a valid US version that comes with warranty. The lens is worth it if you have a manufacturer's back up in case of a failure. Buy international version at your own risk but in my opinion, the risk is not worth the $20-$30 you save by buying it without the warranty. Very disappointing experience.
