wouldve been 5 stars if sensor worked!
By Jessica Macklemoore on Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2022
I like everything about this pitcher, it's large capacity, how easy it is to clean, how it doesn't get that nasty algea slime on it like my old brita pitcher used to and I really liked the fact that it has that little sensor on top thats supposed to tell you when you need to change the filter. I was so excited about that! However, I realized after about 8 months when the thing still said I didn't need to change the filter that something was wrong. Yea it appears my sensor just plain old doesnt work. I only drink about 5 glasses of water per day and i'm the only one who uses the brita so I only need to change the filter every 5 months I assume but now after 11 months i'm SURE it needs to be changed- I can taste the water is getting a little "off". I know no one accidentally reset the sensor which was the only other explanation I could come up with 4 why it appeared to be working fine but was refusing to tell me I needed a new filter. Like when you press the status button, the light will blink green for watever filter you have in there like its supposed to and after you refill it and close the cap, the proper option will also blink again, like its supposed to, I just dont get why after all these months, it still indicates a green light and that I don't need to replace anything. There is another thing on the display that says "replace" with a light next to it that i assume lights up red when you check the status and its ready to have the filter changed but ive never seen it lit up. I recently just reset it (it says to reset you press and hold the status button and on the display it has the number of seconds labelled next to it for each type of filter which i assumed was there to tell you how long to hold down the button to reset it, but then I just read that those are actually the seconds indicating the amount of time youre supposed to hold down the status button to get the STATUS 4 each filter, NOT how long youre supposed to hold down the status button to reset the thing!- and thats NOT what mine does either! On mine, as soon as you press "status", the light next to watever filter you have will immediately light up, there is no need to hold the button down at all-so now im finding even more stuff wrong with my sensor!!). Nothing happened when I tried to reset anything anyway-I didn't gain any info or insight. They really should send me a new one, maybe I should ask but I dont think there is a warranty. It sucks how you wouldnt even know its broken until after like 4-6 months if youre the only one using it!!
