Traditional whimsy

I love this table! I first bought one as a nightstand and loved it so much I almost immediately ordered another. After searching forever for an end table for the living room, I finally decided to just go with what I know and love: this table. I've decided I will purchase another one for the living room and another one for the guest room, if the price ever comes back down. I find it funny that the price has varied from approximately $67 (what I last ordered it as, I believe) to almost $400 in less than one year. The color is perfect! It's the shade of cherry I love most: not too dark but not too red. It's made of wood rather than MDF, so it's sturdy. Yet, it's not so heavy that I can't move it to vacuum and stuff. Also, my cats walk across one of them - getting from a window to the bed - and their nails (which I do keep trimmed) have not once scratched the top surface, thankfully. I appreciate that it arrived fully assembled and extremely well-packaged in double boxes and plenty of Styrofoam. The only occasional issue I have is that sometimes the drawer on one of the three gets stuck. Although I consider this to be a "safe" piece in that it isn't some modern or abstract design, I love that it's round. My house has far too many rectangles in it, and this helps to break that up. It's a touch unexpected and whimsical. Due to its curved shape, I have more latitude to face it in various directions. There is a good deal of storage space in it although perhaps not quite as much if it were square. I noticed on one picture that the knobs looked silver, but mine are a blackish color, which is precisely what I wanted. Otherwise, I was going to switch that out. I do have to add that my cats absolutely loved the inner box that was used as packaging! I threw the outer box away immediately, but I let them play with the inner box for months.

Could be nice - poorly executed: Decor Therapy Keaton Traditional Round Side Table, 26" x 17.75"

Well, sadly, all the "cons" reviews listed are consistent even to my delivery today. So, to exchange it would accomplish what? Nothing. This is a MDF Laminated piece of furniture. The only "solid", solid pieces of "real" wood are the little frame pieces inside. The outer large curved pieces are the MDF, curved then laminated. Otherwise are what some label "furniture" plywood - meaning more layers of ply that are then laminated. Bottom of my cabinet "Vintage Cherry" is a date of manufacturing 05/2022 - so these have been around a while in storage of some kind - meaning: hence the "finish checking" some show pictures of at the bottom. (Me as a furniture maker at one time; still a craftsman etc.) - when that finish applied on that plywood, was likely not "checked" - the little squiggly lines, but due to heat, humidity expansion and contractions for more than 1.5 years, that's what can happen and does apparently on these. One can, if see it - when in place attempt to address that with some home craftsperson product. The finish is otherwise very, very, very sloppily applied. It is initially sprayed with a base stain then has a hand applied (thumb prints and other ugly smears - prove that; brush marks, etc.). They should just brush out to the end of that surface rather than end mid point if even on an interior surface. (See their own online pics of the outer finish on the inside of the Cabinet, Door, etc.) The very hard *filler type glue is allowed to squeeze out and is NOT wipped and drips onto other surfaces are then finish coated in - so don't try to "chip it out" - you will have a bare spot then. I can handle all that QA finish work that did NOT have to occure to address all the above. However, e.g., on the Drawer where joined with the Front Drawer Panel - how that piece was sawed and handled on the very end point one of the layers of plywood is chipped out. Rather than filling it with an appropriate product and finished - it was not, some sloppy attempt that did not fill that gap now appears as crack and damanged point. (*I would have to go in with one of my products to assuridly fill and glue it, and CLAMP it to make it sound.) - So, basically, anywhere one may not "see" this very poor QA finish work - LOOK, and you will see some of it. I could wish for an exchage where it is simply finished properly - but, my experience and opinion in what I see here tells me that if willing to not return and replace or refund - to just address it myself as others here have said - and I will. The very bottom of the cabinet is raw, unfinished plywood. So, if going onto a hardwood floor? - may consider a round rug of some kind to keep that from chipping on time, scratching your floor. Mine has many, many areas of various things it was dragged through during it's assembly. That manufacturing label says "made in china" and looks assembly line, group built in pieces, not one-person-craftperson built. If even MDF and ply built it could be, nevertheless a nice piece. My guess is it is why the price was offered on it that i just paid. Various edges that never go "finish" can be address by a "scratch marker". Also, e.g., the bottom of the drawer, any piece that one can't see - a black marker even to "shadow" or hide that raw unfinished bright spot will put it out of mind, and all I'll do on that. The very bottom edge I'll wipe as well as I can and even probably, again, black marker it so does not look like dragged across the warehouse floor. Who would see it? - not the point. I am sure there are perfect one and worse (chips, or chips to come due to how executed to delivery). The OEM does fairly well package it - comforting since watched it dropped from the Van on the - *not, this side up - side... then quickly corrected when saw me standing at the door watching. So, that side did have a piece of foam which kept it from being returned. However, the INSIDE pieces that move, the Cabinet Door, the Drawer are NOT secured and as it gets banged around so will those pieces - get damaged, loosed, broken, chipped etc. I heard it (could hear them) prior to unpacking so was not initially hopeful it was not going to be yet another troublesome return. - So, bottom-line, pending the price point you pay and are handy, "crafty" it may be a tolerable purchase for you. Be prepared. If you are not one to look to closely and consider value of your money for it - you're fine with this baring overt handling/poor OEM preparation-packaging damage. I hope that helps someone! It could otherwise EASILY be a 5 Star recommendation or an otherwise rare find of MDF Laminate offerings, but, not this time. Moreover, the wife, who's not a "close" looking person likes it. The "Vintage Cherry" I got looks many time better than the Photo they show - which put me off initially but took a "chance" anyway. It survived the last six feet of it's travels to me this holiday season, and so it goes.
