Great product, extremely rigid undercarriage
By Finnster on Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2016
I bought this for my father, 82 yrs old and 6'3", who is recovering from a femur fracture in a rehab facility. The regular height Invacare Rollite rollators they have at his facility are too short for him. Pros: Very strong, rigid and smooth in operation. We have it on its highest setting and this allows my father to walk with an erect posture and comfortable arm angle, like he is riding an old fashioned bike. A person taller than 6'3" might have to stoop a little or hold the arms more extended than is naturally comfortable. Our Nitro must be a newer model because it came with three improvements not shown in the Amazon description or even in the product manual: an integrated metal clasp (red) which holds the unit together with a click when folded and releases with light pulling instead of the plastic band catch attached to the seat which some reviewers said breaks over time; beefier cast aluminum front caster arms instead of the bent tube arms shown in Amazon pictures; and better wheel brake mechanisms with covers. Also, the brake handles lock when pressed down as well as being controlled by squeezing, something not obvious in the item description. Brake strength is adjustable with a (white) twist controller by the back wheels. Brake feel is excellent right out of the box. In fact the rollator is fully assembled and works like a charm right out of the box. Cons: Made in China not USA (reason so affordable); seat height is fixed and so is low the taller you are (only the handles adjust for height); width of the Nitro is narrow and so seat width is narrow (fits a slim build only). My father is 38" waist with wide shoulders and is a tight fit when seated, but he is comfortable. Overall this is a wonderful product for a slim 6'3" older man recovering from hip surgery. The narrowness of the device makes it easier to navigate. It turns on a dime and is super smooth indoors and outside on pavement. The brakes have excellent feel. It folds up in a jiffy and stands up on its own when folded. I was surprised how rigid and strong it is when unfolded for use. I was expecting it to be far more wobbly. There is some slight bend in the arms but the base is rock solid. We had a choice between getting a Tall Invacare Rollite or this model by private pay. From Dad's experience with the regular height Invacare Rollites at his facility and this Nitro, the Nitro is far more rigid, is smoother rolling, folds more cleverly, and has better build quality. The Invacare Rollite is wider overall and thus has a wider seat, however. The Drive Nitro is 23" wide on the outside and the Invacare Rollite is 27" wide on the outside. This product has allowed my father to go to the next level in rehab, walking further, with more confidence and ease. It's so light, smooth, rigid in its undercarriage and comfortable for his height that he may want to use it for stability even when his femur fully heals and he becomes pain free. Update: Five months later and my father is still using it everywhere comfortably. It gives him peace of mind that he won't fall again. No squeaks or rattles. Looks like new. Great maneuverability in the bathroom and narrow spaces and great over broken sidewalk. Highly recommended!

Safety and Stability Issues!
By Michael K. on Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2021
Initially I liked the design and got several compliments on this rollator, but , that's the only positive review I can give of this product. Unlike many others here, I have had a very different experience with this item. My experience with this rollator has been horrible! As you can see from the photos above this product was not made very well. Both rubber handles (left and right) kept sliding back until eventually the rubber handles broke. I tried to look for replacements but at the time could not find any. Another issue, if you look at the photo showing an allen wrench coming out of the bottom right frame made this unit very wobbly and very unstable. As you can see I put an allen wrench in there temporarily so I could use it still use the walker while trying to find a replacement. Looking at it further I could not tell what type of bolt was used in there to make the unit stable. Yet another safety issue is the brake lock. As you can see several times when i first got the unit I just slid my hand in the brake area and pushed down to lock....."Ouch" it pinched the inside of my skin between the thumb and finger causing a nasty blood blister. Front wheels....way to big to the point of getting stuck. Still can't judge them in front and get stuck with the wheels against the wall and have to try and pull back the walker but not as easy as you think. Seat is ok unless you are needed it for extended periods of time where I found it uncomfortable. Could not figure out how to tighten to get the brakes to work better. Very confusing on which way to turn. This unit is on the heavy side to fold then lift into the back of the trunk of car. I would not recommend this product to anyone as it did not hold up well to normal use.
