This is a really nice sounding Bluetooth device!
By Tango's product reviews on Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2020
Okay so upon initial opening up the product I noticed immediately the weight these were really heavy and a lot larger than I expected. They are labeled as master and satellite so you know which ones are what. Pairing them with a cell phone is simple. the actual sound out of them is fantastic. The light is a white light and is very bright. In the application you have the ability to control the lights and speakers. The lights are dimmable within the app however if you are expecting to connect this to any echo device it will not connect I have tried for about two hours to get this to connect through Bluetooth and it will not connect that being said in addition to this if you have these installed in areas where there is a light switch and you turn the switch off you lose the Bluetooth connectivity and will have to reconnect it. If this was able to pair with the echo I would be keeping these as they sound really really good. JBL has been a power player in professional audio speakers for decades and their quality is fantastic. Unfortunately they do not work for what I want them for what they may work for you. In addition this does come with a socket extension for each bulb in case you need to extend the length of the base. These speakers only work with the sengled pulse app they will not work with the sengled smart home app. One other observation I did notice was when the master light was on full brightness there was a noticeable hum coming from the light very high-pitched very high frequency not noticeable if you're playing music at all with all the lights on . what is noticeable if you get very close to it if you are more than 2 feet away from the light itself you cannot hear the hum. ***UPDATE*** So after deciding on keeping this product for their sound quality. I was able to actually get this to work with the echo gen 3. This is how I actually did it if you are unable to connect to the echo even after the device has been disconnected from all other Bluetooth devices turn the power off to the light and back on 3 times then wait for the Bluetooth connection sound, go into your Alexa app and then pair to new device and it should work. Once you have done this and the connection has been paired with Alexa ask Alexa to disconnect the Bluetooth speaker and then connect it to your phone your phone is the only way that you can adjust the lighting make sure that you go into settings and have the app remember the last position.adjust your lights how you want them whether it be on or off I prefer to leave mine off disconnect the Bluetooth from your phone and then ask Alexa to reconnect Bluetooth device once this is done your speakers will now work with Alexa. Just one more caveat after reconnecting the Bluetooth speaker to a power source the hum that was actually in the unit when I first turned it on is no longer there. ***Update2*** So after purchasing the pulse link adapter I found that the master light will not work with the system so on that note I would suggest if you are planning to make this a artificial surround sound system and I say artificial because it's not true surround sound I would suggest purchasing the pulse link adapter and satellites only you will not need to purchase the pulse amp because the pulse link adapter does have a built-in line out for a powered sub sub. I have this system and it sounds truly amazing with the pulse link adapter you can control any audio device that is plugged into it via remote. right now I have my television plugged into it and it works flawlessly. I will be purchasing at least two more satellites to complete the system I did return the pulse amp as it will not tie in with the pulse link adapter I have decided to keep the master bulb as I will use this as part of my holiday audio scheme. One more small caveat with the pulse link adapter you can also leave your unit connected directly to Bluetooth on your phone and he was it to control the lights as long as you have the wired adapter plugged into the pulse link input I have used a splitter to run all of my audio lines that I wanted directly into the line in on the pulse link and am now able to control the volume with the echo and the TV as well as any other device I decide to hardwire into the pulse link system.

Sound bad enough to be effective weapons of psychological torture.

The sound on these speakers is awe-inspiringly horrendous. I can't state that more emphatically. My expectations for $15 speaker bulbs were not particularly high, but even they still managed to disappoint. But I get ahead of myself; let's start at the beginning. I want to address the manufacturer’s claims in the Amazon listing one-by-one. “EASY SET UP” First pair of these arrived DOA and would not connect to Bluetooth. Rather, they connected, then disconnected a few seconds later, then reconnected, then disconnected, then...you get the idea. There are a lot of reviews here saying the speakers would not connect. I suspect this to be a widespread quality problem. Replacement arrived and connected without issue. The lights are bright and provide good coverage; the warmth of the light was pleasant. So yes, when they work, the setup is easy. This claim is true. The real reason for buying these, though, is not because you want lights; it's because you want speakers. “APP CONTROLLED” The app has an equalizer to allow you to adjust the sound frequencies, however, you cannot customize the settings; you must use one of Sengled's OOB presets. You can also set each speaker to be left-only, right-only, or combined left-right. You can adjust the volume and turn each speaker on or off individually. You can also adjust the lights easily. So yes, they are app controlled, that’s true, but having to use the preset EQ settings with no ability to customize the settings is a fairly big knock against the app. Overall, the app feels fairly slapped together and beta; this would not be a big selling point, IMO. “HIGH FIDELITY SOUND” Now we get to it. Without EQ, the sound was very muffled, lacking any depth or range. I was listening to a popular Internet radio station and ran through all the EQ settings. The only one that sounded remotely acceptable was the "Rock" setting. Even then, the sound was irritatingly bad in a very literal sense. My wife and I were getting increasingly cross with each other when she said, "Maybe it's these speakers." I shut them down and instantly the mood in the room lightened. I mean it when I said these would make effective psych warfare devices. That's how bad the sound is; so bad that even for $15 I would not keep these. This would be a “No, the sound is anything but ‘high fidelity.’” “STREAM EFFORTLESSLY” The speakers grab the Bluetooth connection exclusively and will not give it up. I had these connected to a tablet and wanted to use a BT headset. I had to manually disconnect the speakers from BT and reset my old-reliable headset to be the media device before it would work. Then when I wanted to show my wife the speakers, I had to reconnect them in BT settings, go back to the app and have the app rediscover the bulbs. Having to go through this procedure every time I switched between the speakers and the headset would negate any sense of “effortless.” This level of effort to switch between BT audio devices would itself be enough reason to return these. “WHOLE HOME MUSIC” Other reviewers have noted the BT distance for these bulbs is laughably short. I installed these bulbs in my kitchen with the intent to replace Alexa as she’d said “By the way…” one time too many and I unplugged her in a fit of pique. I had music streaming from my tablet to the bulbs and brought the tablet into my home office to charge it. The distance is about 20ish feet and has line-of-sight. Nope, too far; music kept dropping out. I brought the tablet back to the kitchen and the drop-outs stopped. I started walking toward my office and got about 10 feet from the master bulb before the music started cutting out again. So that’s going to be a “no” on the “whole home music.” TL;DR: good as lights, substandard app, dodgy quality control, sound quality that quite literally will set your teeth on edge. I’m not keeping these; they were a huge disappointment. In the end, I plugged Wiretap back in until a different solution comes along.
