Silicone Baking Mats, Fits 2/3-Size Sheet Pan

I have two 15”x21” baking sheets and I have had trouble with things burning when I bake on them, as these are non-insulated and are dark in color. Parchment paper did not help at all (not that I expected it to but it was worth a try). After considering my options I bought a pair of these baking mats to put on top of these sheets, with the thought that they would help with both the burning and also with cleanup. I was right on both counts. These mats fit my large baking sheets perfectly, and they roll out very flat so there isn’t any issue with an uneven baking surface. Whether I am baking a peasant loaf of bread or a batch of cookies, the mats so far have not interfered with the shape of the final baked good. Being non-stick I have not needed cooking spray to keep things from sticking to these mats. I have noticed, though, that even after washing I can see the outline of what I baked when I view the mats at an oblique angle, though this appears to be only cosmetic. Washing these is a challenge because of the size – they’re not stiff like a baking sheet so they require some maneuvering when washing by hand. Another reviewer mentioned putting them in the dishwasher; I haven’t tried that. One good thing I have noticed is that these do not retain a smell, though I haven’t yet attempted anything like garlic toast on them. And in spite of the awkwardness due to the size, these do clean up easily. My primary purpose for buying these was to deal with burning issues. Without these, I’d see cookies come out with blackened bottoms when the tops were just done. Using these mats, I can bake the same kinds of cookies until they’re all done and not end up with blackened bottoms, though they’re still darker underneath which tells me that the mats are a big help but not a total cure. I’m very pleased with these mats. They fit my sheets exactly, they are non-stick so they’re not impossible to clean, and they insulate enough on dark baking sheets to greatly reduce burning issues. Based on my working with them these are easy to recommend.
