Comparing Teva Tirra & Verra, go for the Tirra!
By AC on Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2020
I love Teva’s. I have been wearing them for many years, with Hurricanes being my first pair. Then I discovered Tirra about four years ago and of course instantly fell in love with those too. My husband says the Hurricanes are bulky/chunky looking , so he always prefers I wear the Tirra, but I have lake blue in the Tirra and that bright blue doesn’t always match everything. I love blacks and greys for sandals, so I decided on the Verra, plus it’s minimal looking with less straps and can be worn with anything. I have been reading reviews off and on for weeks now. Verra versus Tirra: Tirra are the ultimate in comfort, construction and overall feel. No rubbing anywhere, not even on my pinky toes, perfect arch support, you name it. Verra are not constructed quite as good. On the inside of the ankle strap, the part that hugs the inside of your foot and ankle, Verra appears to be just glued. Tirra is stitched very well, heavy duty type stitching. So that might be why some women have the straps eventually coming away from the shoe. Also, they differ on the bottoms. Tirra are straight up grippy rubber, the Verra I just got are part rubber (fronts and backs) but more like a compressed foam on the majority of the bottoms. The soles on Verra are visibly thinner than Tirra, but arch support is still pretty good. As for sizing, I wear a size 9 in Hurricanes, a 9.5 in Tirra and I had to order a 10 in Verra. I always wear 9’s in sandals, even my Birkenstocks are size 40 R. Style wise, Verra are cuter and more feminine looking but also the straps on Tirra are far superior. The material on Tirra seem to dry faster and is softer. Also straps have a cushioning fabric underneath where it touches your feet, Verra doesn’t. One last thing about comparing the two, the strap between both pieces of velcro that cover the ankle is much shorter on the Verra, which is why when you close that strap, it doesn’t cover the front of the ankle as well as Tirra. I am returning the Verra. My feet are hurting already, just from wearing them around the house. Based on my own experience, Verra seem like they are more for a narrow foot. I have one narrow and one medium width, but even my narrow foot is hurting. Hope this helps someone else trying to compare the Tirra and Verra models.
